I haven't really slept in 3 weeks
    #22388885 - 10/16/15 03:17 PM (8 years, 3 months ago)

A few weeks ago I began using valium to treat anxiety, it's been rather effective at keeping me focused and reduces my anxiety of everyday occurrences.

The second effect is that it helps me to sleep like nothing else, it used to take me 30 mins - 2 hours to fall asleep and now takes me 5-10 mins max. The problem is that when I'm asleep I am completely aware that I am dreaming and have several dreams, each of which I remember vividly.

So when I go to sleep, my conscience stays awake, when I wake up it has at times been difficult to distinguish between what was the memory of a dream and what was a real experience. Being conscious and aware throughout the entirety of my dreams makes it feel as though my mind has not slept while physically I have.

Has anyone else experienced this on the regular with valium or any other mind altering substance?

You might consider exploring other sleep aid options.

I've had trouble sleeping for years. I've taken ambien, klonopin, xanex, seroquel, alcohol, and just about anything else you could name. I would stop taking the valium asap to help with sleep. Eventually you are going to completely rely on valium just to fall asleep and trying to get sleep without it will become a nightmare. It is better to have to wait an hour and have "unproductive" sleep than it is to have none at all. The best thing for you to do is give yourself a schedule everyday, at first don't allow yourself to have a 7-9 hour time frame to sleep. Give yourself a reason to be tired so you don't think about getting to sleep but loathing sleep itself. Wake up at the same time everyday, this is important. If you are going to take something I would smoke marijuana, I feel I get a much more productive sleep than any benzo, or really any other supplement for that matter. Still I would avoid everything all together, most of your sleep trouble is in your head.

Problem with kratom for me is that it doesn't sedate me long enough to work. Once I feel it waring off in the slightest bit, I feel like I'm fucked and I wont be getting any sleep.

Benzos suck my sleep is like yours. I am tapering off the benzos. I have been on them for a long time. 10-15 years.
