Talk to me when you've spent months working from 10pm to 8am.
There's a very good reason you often see people bitching about noisy neighbors/conditions and throw on "I work overnights, I have to sleep during the day".

With my face against the floor I can’t see who knocked me out of the way. I don’t want to get back up but I have to so it might as well be today. Nothing appeals to me no one feels like me, I’m too busy being calm to disappear. I’m in no shape to be alone contrary to the shit that you might hear. You can't wake up, this is not a dream. You're part of a machine, you are not a human being With your face all made up, living on a screen. Low on self esteem, so you run on gasoline

I'm pretty tired right now. I want to talk to my boss and see if she will let me change my availability because my parents aren't cool with me coming home this late but it's coming close to Christmas season and they need people available at all hours and I already told them I would be available until 12:30 and they won't let me change my shifts so I'm in a bit of a pickle :/
Been doing midnights for over 3 years now. You never get used to it.

Tell your parents to suck it because you're a hard working young man that needs to stack some paper.
Fuck, they should be proud of the fact that you even have a job.

I live with my parents..... they work early in the mornings and don't want to be disturbed.
Seriously that underage graem is old at this point. Especially to me when it's been well established many times that I'm not underage

I'm messing with you.
But I do think it's pretty dumb that is your parent's reasoning. Like OK sorry as an 18 or so year old you don't have a 9-5 job. Pretty dumb I'd be more supportive of my kid actually working for himself.
That's just my take on the situation I imagine it's probably different.

I have been on that shift for 6 years. I don't deal well with being woken up in the day. After a few days of bad sleep you start to lose it too. I have tried sleeping as soon as i get home at 9 am and i have tried delaying it and waking up just before work starts, its hard either way. Even though there should be enough time in there during the day to get enough sleep I tend to wake up at least once and have hard time falling back asleep. I have managed to not start taking meth and benzos and stuck to coffee and weed. Oh and that schedule you would think that 4 nights on and 3 off is great, but the first day off is a total write off all you do is sleep. Actually all weekend is fucked you are just starting to get back normal when it's over and you have to work again. Oh yeah and the city is tearing up my street for the next few months. All I hear is jackhammers all day, they never do it on weekends because the normals need their sleep. Pretty sure this is taking years off my life.

At the end of my work week, if someone wakes me up, I am ruthless in every way shape and form.....for like 25 seconds.....
You just don't get the sleep you need, and your body fights itself.
I poop like 5 times in 24 hrs because of midnights.

You' ve made it too easy, I'm calling Kelvin and telling him you're already sick of the job and inviting vagrants to keep you company.
P.S. Move the fuck out already.

Well, when it comes to a job be up front with them. I know that sometimes you may think you are okay with x schedule, or say anything to get a job, but make sure since now your employer now expects it.
I myself am getting into that situation as I will probably be working nights in my next job, which I hate. But, it will be a stepping stone to much better things. I told my boss at the interview(I know that sounds weird but I already had the job), I would rather not, but I would rather work than not.
Do you want to work for this company or not? Is it worth you time and health? If not find a new job. <-- answer this.

I can barely get used to it, and prefer staggered days to catch up on sleep, since day sleeping is aweful. Working a 4-5 days im a row, well, reality gets kind of streachy and wrong

I always heard you should really commit to night shift. As in keep the schedule even on your off days. Because that way you get some sort of pattern going. If you try to live "normal" hours on your days off thats just screaming to fuck your self over.

I worked night shifts for years. I kinda liked it but then I always was more of a nighttime person
Now I am back in a regular flow and I still get a boost around 10 in the evening.
Not a morning person!

I used to work 7pm-5am shifts at a 7-11 while I was in highschool. Not a great idea with stacks of school work due an hour after you get off shift. I'd ask for a shift change asap before things get away from you.
