damn you're on it! thanks.

I read that these and weilii grow in the similar habitats. How do you differentiate? I'm thinking about going back to the same spot and searching a bit deeper in the woods.

Weilii won't have a fibrous cap and is a much, much sturdier mushroom. They will also bruise blue and smell farinacious

Also the gill color - both species have gills that start out beige, but after some time Lacrymaria gills will turn jet black while Psilocybe gills turn dark purple brown.

The stem texture of the two is much different.

The odor is different - Psilocybe smell like cucumber.

Lacrymaria, like Psathyrella is very fragile.  The cap and stem will splinter with a light touch.  Psilocybe is much more fibrous and resilient.

What are these?? It was our first time ever hunting today and we found this in one our local county parks in Snohomish County WA. Wishing they're magic but we have no clue just saw to s in a patch white stems and beige to grey to black gills underneath, we took pics in the dark when we found them. thank you for any help. Would also love to know to spore test

Are these magic or not?

Coprinellus micaceus.

They are awesome if you rinse them off, roll in flour and fry in butter.

They are not hallucinogenic.
