I can only guess. You should go for it. What's the worst that could happen?

If you want a truly contam free cake, then take the extra step, and swipe the print (with a sterilized Q-tip) on some agar plates.
Wait for clean growth and make a LI syringe to inoculate your brf jars with.
Growth will be a LOT faster, and the best part...no contams to worry about (given you perform proper sterile techniques while working in your SAB).
Here's my favorite LI tek: http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/20429745
And also a tek for practicing your sterile techniques! http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/21889950/fpart/1/vc/1

Using spores in a sugar LC is by far riskier than using those same spores to inoculate cakes. LCs in general favor contams which is why people recommend agar wedges to inoculate them.

I would keep a print you're unsure of away from anything but agar. If you want to make an excuse to why agar isnt something you can do right now the PF cake is the only other thing I would try questionable spores on.

To be clear, is one good method to put a tiny bit of spores (knife tip), or a drop from a syringe, in the middle of the agar plate, and then wait until growth is about quarter size, and then transfer from the very outer edge of the circle to a new plate, and then use that to inoc? Just want to be clear on the best way to do this... thanks

In a pinch you could use Agar substitute..

I have had good success using this method.. But does not compare to the real thing (agar)...

Pretty much all there is too it. Also agar is not hard to find unless you live in the arctic circle or something. Very easy to buy online as well. Asian food shops, health food stores will both carry it. A lb will last the average hobbiest years.
