..a projection of our awareness into this world?
How does that sit with everyone? I was laying in a dentists chair, in quite a bit of pain (I refused anasthetic) when this thought came to me. I think I've been edging towards it for a while, but it sits very 'right' with me (i.e. strong gut feeling of this).
More and more I feel like we're not really here - our awareness comes from somewhere else. Our (my) physical form feels like just a projection into this dimension.
It might also explain why I've become more and more excited by the thought of death as I've aged - it feels like the next big adventure - a time to step out of this dimension and back to.. wherever it is we truly reside.
I'd love to know everyone's thoughts/feelings on this hypothesis.

In physics, the Holographic principle stipulates that all universal reality is the projection of a hologram located at the two-dimensional boundary of spacetime. If it is correct, then all of Nature is a hologram -- meaning that your comment about projection of awareness would be literally true. Moreover, the universe can be objective if indeed it comprises a hologram. Everything is imprinted everywhere -- the Jeweled Net of Indra. And everything truly exists -- it is there even when it is not being observed.

well, the body is ... what? Depends on whether your eyes are open or closed, whether you are asleep or awake, whether you are in deep meditation or floating in some psychedelic void. It is, in other words, what you experience of it at any giving moment. If you are not experiencing it at all...it has absolutely no basis in reality.

Rather than a projection... It often seems to me that my source of mind exists somewhere else and I'm channeling my own thoughts like a receiver. Feels like I'm watching myself from behind myself somewhere.

It's really something wonderful. 6 years ago when I began the process of trying to understand myself/the world I was a 235 pound bodybuilder trying to standout and change the world. 6 years later I'm 180 pounds and could care less about changing the world on a macro-level or being a standout persona, rather I just want peace/fluidity with change in my moment to moment micro-world.
I don't know if there's a correlation between body and awareness, but a change in body definitely came to me with a change in awareness.

Yeah the Holographic Prinicple..Probably has an attachment to everything..to a varying degree..its how we have Newtonian, Einsteinian, and Quantum Mechanical Laws of the universe that can be understood..
And then we have Philosophy and Psychology, Magic and Sociology to Understand the Self.. Also Religion as well..
So I think the thing to learn..is that the Holograph has a source..
the source specifically could be everything literally like the Indras Net... but it could also have varying degrees of Source, Rooting behaviour which are more powerful than other seeds..or roots so to speak..
The example I give for an absolute source IS the Soul..in which you are at the top of your awareness in Existence..as the One and Only Creator..etc..

Most of the mystic teachers have taught taught kindness as the way to regulate our behavior
And that as you suggest the body is something better not to get too attached to
Awareness like space-time is not tangible, and devoid of characteristics that characterize phenomenon, which is why they pretty much all say the final truth cannot be put into words.
As humans we are always pulled in different directions. The mind wants to put everything in words, and control everything, and win.
Then there is the other part you mention that wants to let go, and sees the body, world, separate personality fixation, and mind as a little silly.
So we seem to be left with some version of: kindness, moderation, and mindfulness as the way to navigate our remaining time, be it seconds or years.
Certainly the older one gets the more the view taken in Ecclesiastes feels relevant.

I've felt that sensation many times very strongly, I call it a mystic's reality tunnel, it's not the only vantage point or way to make sense of the world, but it is indeed a very valuable one for the heart and imagination. No clue if it's true, but one's perception can undoubtably be rearranged to experience life this way and reap great rewards (not saying that's not true of the other points of view).

If we could look into each others hearts, and understand the unique challenges each of us faces, I think we would treat each other much more gently, with more love, patience, tolerance, and care. It takes a lot of courage to go out there and radiate your essence. I know you scared, you should ask us if we scared too. If you was there, and we just knew you cared too.

I don't know if there are different realities. I definitely believe in eternity ... I kind of feel like there is a cycle of life and when you are self-realized enough or something you're removed from the cycle and put into eternity. For some reason in my brain and heart that makes the most sense to me. Our souls and who we are is definitely bigger than our bodies but I don't think we are operating out of a different dimension. I think earth is more special and one of a kind than humans like to think

It fascinates me when I hear people say this; I have been feeling this a lot myself in the last few months of my life. It just resonates, fucking deeply. It seems there's quite a few other people, like yourself, who share this feeling. It makes me think there must be something to it.

Shit man, that moment of transcending space/time and experiencing pure awareness, what could our body/ego be but an incarnation into this plane of existence. Hard to put into words and sounds like a lot of nonsense, but very well might be true, resonates with me.

Agreed. It's similar to the innate fear of snakes or lions... It's just human DNa and the only people who don't feel it have extremely developed world views and have developed their own little box of thinking you know? the whole apathetic atheist know-it-all movement
