Driving High

Be honest here how many of shroomeries stoners have driven high? I have a problem with it but its not bad my friends are freaking me out because we always get baked and drive places. I would rather walk or do something before driving (we do it mostly after just smoking). The weird part is when my friend picks me up im not sketched if im sober but when im high it becomes a big deal. Idk do you guys have an issue with stoned drivers? We have yet to get pulled over or crashed. Should I be so worried about it? My friend just doesn't like to be in public when he is baked because he thinks someone will call the cops on him. I tried to tell him nobody will care unless you drive then its a big deal. For some reason he thinks driving is less sketchy than walking around. Idk what do you guys think?

On cannabis I see no problem. I did almost crash my car after smoking oil for the first time in hella long so I guess you just need to use your judgement and think about how high you are. If you don't have to drive just don't

This has come up frequently and I'm in the minority on it.
I think driving intoxicated is stupid and reckless. "It makes me a better driver because I'm more careful and relaxed". Bullshit. Total bullshit. Even driving sober sometimes you can't react fast enough to a situation to avoid it, anything that impairs your reaction time is only going to make that fact worse. Rather than swerving 10 feet from that bicyclist and just barely missing him, now you're doing it in 5 and hitting him.
Drunks say the same stupid shit. "No man, I can drive honestly, being drunk makes me a better driver". Have you ever honestly been a passenger in a car with a drunk driver while you were sober and seen a marked improvement in their capabilities?
You drive like shit, you're just too high or drunk to notice it. You only think you drive better. To the outside observer, you're not even close.
Now throw on all the anecdotes of the sober people who have ridden with you and remarked on how good of a driver you are (this goes for anyone who replies to this thread not just not OP). I say it's fucking bullshit, come prove it. I will sit there and take notes and tell you the 20 different ways you managed to fuck up in just 5 minutes of driving.

I think you can drive while a little stony, but for the most part you shouldn't. There's definitely a lot of judgement required, and if you are fucking baked you should not drive. There was about a month of my life where I made the repeated mistake of doing a half hour drive home stoned out of my mind.. and it was scary! Slow curves of the freeway would seemingly come out of nowhere and I would catch myself swerving to stay in my lane. Thankfully these excursions were always at night with just myself at risk, but still.. it's not a good idea.
It does not, by any means, improve your driving. Unless you're a lead-pedal driver full of road rage and like to start fights with strangers.. then maybe you should calm down a little before driving. Better yet maybe you should walk instead.

In my weed smoking prime I drove baked every time. And there where countless times of me smoking spliffs while driving too. For me I found it didn't effect my focus much, perhaps partly due to the fact that I knew I was high and because of that needed to be extra careful and stay extra focused. I'm not going to try to say it didn't effect my judgment/motor skills but I always noticed that the mindset made me more cautious. Being a little older looking back I don't regret doing it but I don't advocate it either. Nobody should be driving intoxicated and especially when really sleepy. Being very sleepy is the most dangerous I think.
My advice is be smart, sometimes things happen spontaneously and you may have to drive. Otherwise think ahead if you know you will be driving soon and don't get baked just hold off for a better time to smoke. As long as you arent carrying your weed on you walking is much better. I think your friend is just being classic paranoid. Nobody can prove anything or will waste their time try to get you for being high, unless your being an idiot. Ive been in the presence of countless cops stoned out of my head and never had a problem even when they and me both knew how baked I was. Just dont keep weed on you.

When I was a hardcore stoner I was a good driver. Once I took a tolerance break it became harder. First time I dabbed was dangerous, for sure.

Thank god I lived 3 minutes away. I was a zombie. Plopped onto bed, woke up 10 hours later...still high.
Before that I had smoked 5 times a day and drove just fine. Idk how I lost those skills.

I have yet to find anyone who can tell the difference between indica and sativa in a blind taste test. The completely untested and unproven hippie propaganda here is super strong so i wont try to convince you but you should try the blind test sometime. When you aren't driving of course.

I wouldn't consider driving under the influence of anything like cannabis or alcohol and it's beyond me why some people appear to do this. I wouldn't recommend it, that's for sure.

Driving under the influence of alcohol is completely different than driving under the influence of cannabis products
That said I wouldn't recommend doing either of them myself, save that shit for when you're off the road

Yeah, my point wasn't that the two are comparable, but that I wouldn't consider driving under the influence of either - or a hist of other substances for that matter.

I wrote off my first car because I was high, too busy looking out the window and took the turn around the round about (circle for US) too late.. fucked drive shafts and everything just from the front wheel hitting the gutter too hard LOL.
Have driven countless times high on most drugs.. pretty bad decision if you ask me. Yet in the 9 years I've been driving I have never had another accident aside from the first, which was in my year of smoking lol. Never been caught with drugs or drug/alcohol driving.
Count myself pretty lucky on that accord. Have been basically drug free for 2 months except for holiday play up in US. I won't be over the 0.05 BAC reading we have in AUS whenever I drive.
Adult life. Choices gotta be smarter, gotta look out for your future, especially if you have kids.. who is gonna take them to school? How's it gonna look when they're stitched up in hospital because of your mistake to get behind the wheel? Or one of your family or friends for that matter. It's a serious price to pay for the stupid decision. I got lucky and was neve put in any such scenario yet again.
From a some-what reformed drug addict.. this mind sound a bit how's it going.. but life is real.. people are real, these things happen, kids, family, friends and innocent bystanders DIE from shit like this.. ITS REAL YOU KNOW. "I'll be right" Sure ya will.. when you get out of the hospital from crashing your car into a tree/poll.. YA BLOODY IDIOT!
End of my essay.. I do not drive under the influence anymore, have had luck in the past with horrible decisions. I do not condone it at all or recommend it to anybody.. no matter how much "BETTER" you think you drive on drugs... YOU DON'T!!

I DEFINITELY drive better on low dose stimulants like 4fa, amphetamine, and caffeine. A bit ov cannabis does'nt hurt me. Everything else i find to impair, but i'm quite guilty ov driving under the influence countless times. I'm tamer now, but still imbibe before driving from time to time.

Bullshit. Different strains do different things
I've had super heavy medical indicas where I was totally fucked and stuck on my couch, and they gave me a hangover type thing the next day where my energy was totally drained
Then I smoked some sativa and the difference was night and day. I felt beautiful and amazing and everything felt like sex if i touched it. Amazing sleep. No paranoia
If you don't think there's any difference in strains then you are an idiot. There are thousands of different effects from marijuana.
Why do you think they have a cannabis cups, thousands of different strains, etc? Cuz they all do different stuff

I can drive fine on weed as long as I'm not SUPER baked. I have a more difficult time driving fast while high. I tend to drive slower and more carefully.

I definitely don't think I drive better while stoned but don't see a decline in my driving either and neither did my gf who didn't smoke. There's definitely a line though where I'm too high to drive and I dont.

In Colorado in 2013, when weed wasn't legal there was 481 traffic fatalities, compared to 488 deaths in 2014 when it was. However in 2015 we are already up to 431 this year so we will see how things play out. More of those drivers where found with CBD in their systems too, but that statistic may have been affected by an increase in tests for the drug related to legalization.
I thought it was the other way around. For a while I was dead convinced that cannabis was like a performance enhancing drug for driving so long as you looked where you where going. Its actually really distracting to have to light up a bowl when your driving, especially at night.

Drive stoned all the time. Burn rides all the time. Have vaped oils while driving. I've had to pull over and have the wife drive a couple times cuz I was too baked and couldn't get the car to go over 50 in a 55 while crazily darting my eyes from the lines in the road that I need to stay between, to the mirror, to the speedometer, then back to the road in a frantic nervous fashion.
Nothing bad has ever happened. Not saying it isn't stupid. but nothing bad has ever happened yet.

That's what I told him we smoked like more than a few bowls of some of my good kush it was defiantly indo bud. I can tell the strain type from the nug smell/size if it's little buds it's usually sativa big buds are indo. But we smoked and he wants to drive as the bud is still kicking in I told him we should just walk to the gas station and get munchies before we try and drive but he sayed we where to high to be in public (which I argued we where to high to drive then). His driving was on point though it just has me freaked out I try and be a reasponsible stoner driving high is something I don't do myself. I'm all about legislation so I try and set a good example to prove that stoners are good people. It was fine though I just pefer for him to do the driving when we have walked around for an hour or more because then we would have been used to the high instead of coming up on it and trying to drive down the highway.

Yeah i typically get really high in the morning and wait for it to wear off a little before i drive, so that im still high but not super stoned. For me normally ill be super high then after about 15 or 20 minutes ill feel it steeply decline in intensity, and i wait until that point to drive. Although driving super stoned is hard, i think its pretty safe if you focus. Its just really uncomfortable.
And dont drive around with weed in your car

ime driving high during the day sucks ass cuz u gotta deal with all the traffic, more pedestrians on the street, not to mention u stand out more.
driving during the night however, usually during the late hours, now that's fun, very little traffic and almost no pedestrians, it's dark, which makes one feel more at ease cuz everyone knows stoners hate bright lights, especially while stoned.
i personally wouldnt recommend it, the first time i drove high i gotta admit i was pretty nervous, but i got used to it and now i've pretty much mastered it.
if ur gonna do it do it at night, that's all im saying, and stay the fuck away from schools zones during the day..

I'm not even sure what you are trying to say. I've only been in 4 accidents. 3 were people driving too fast to slow down in time and they ran into my bumper when the car in front of me stopped fast. Wasn't high for any of these.
The 4th time everyone was really high and drunk. We had like 11 people crammed into an old suburban and we were trail ridding/mudding. The driver wreck the suburban into a giant tree and it wasn't even his car.
Now that I think of it there was a fifth accident because I was checking some girl out. I just barley scratched someone's car and it was no big deal, but I was sober when this happened too.

Hell I've been driving stoned daily now for about 10 years. The only time I ever panicked was the first few times I drove stoned when I was 16. Since then, I don't care how cliche it sounds, I honestly do drive better stoned. I'm more paranoid of pigs when sober. I can relax and enjoy the drive stoned. On a related note never try driving even half a mile down a one way road to the gas station in the middle of a nice mushroom trip. It. Is. Horrifying.

I rarely drive sober. I used to smoke while I drove with my wax pen but now I just take dabs before I go so I don't have to fool with the pen. I'm aware that it impairs my driving so I try to drive slow and carefully when I'm high. Besides that I don't drive on anything else. I drove on acid once and now I'm too afraid to drive on anything but weed.

I dont want to advocate it but driving high is like meditation. It just goes good together. Drving on mushrooms is another story though. Its not even worth it. Not fun at all, except maybe being a passenger in some cases

I was pulled over and had my car searched because it smelled like weed. I told the cops i had just smoked. They didnt give a shit as long as there were no drugs on me.
Another time i got arrested for a non-drug offense and my car was again searched and impounded. When i got out of jail, i got my car out of impound and the cops left my weed, pipe, and everything in my car for me. How nice of them.
I used to drive high every single day and it really didnt effect my driving imo. That was when my tolerance was thru the roof though. Now ive been clean for three months so i feel that it would impair my driving ability.

i drove on the cacti once, it was only for a short block, and i'm still not sure whether i did or didnt go into a short trance with my bro and cousin, who were also trippin with me, while we were waiting at a stop light..
the only evidence i have of this ever occurring is the reaction of a passerby in another vehicle.. in my mind his reaction, although somewhat subtle, said to me, "is anybody else looking at this shit??..", it was as if time had stopped and this person was the only person in the whole world to witness us in our little trance.. traffic was abundant, yet there was no tension at all from any of the other drivers, just silence, like watching a silent film..
it was as if for that very short moment in time everything around us had become one, except for that guy..
needless to say, i realized we were still way too high to be on the road so i pulled into a nearby park.
i still don't know whether this really happened or not, or whether it was all my head, like i said all i have is that guys reaction..

I may be wrong but I see no problem with driving stoned for most people.

I disagree. I've been around and have seen very many stoned people and I wouldn't trust the majority of them driving in any serious traffic. The friends I have discussed this with (who also have experience with cannabis) all agree; none of us would drive stoned if we have any choice (so excepting an emergency). I personally think it's very irresponsible behavior.

I have heard that they did test marijuanas effect on driving and found that it only lowers driving speed and doesn't increase accidents.
I also heard that the states that legalized marijuana saw a record decrease in drunk driving and car accidents.
Better safe then sorry though and you should always drive sober, but that said I think marijuana, if it has any negative effect on driving at all, is miniscule compared to drinking.
Dont take any chances with other peoples lives though. The problem is people like me are under the influence of cannabis almost constantly, so we can basically never drive.

I think it depends on your experience and current tolerance more then anything. I dont see a problem with a veteran smoker driving stoned, but if someone is a noob to smoking and they just took a dab, probably not the best idea for them to drive but honestly I drive better when im high..

One time I drove my car out my driveway to park it on the roadside while on 4g of mushies and a few joints. I don't know if that counts as driving really since I only went like 60ft but yea it wasn't all too difficult, I wouldn't ever attempt to drive on a road while on mushies.

In high school, I drove high every day to and from school with no issue. I am a major car enthusiast, so I enjoy driving sober as is. I dont think driving baked is a dangerous act unless you are REALLY baked. You just have to be self aware, and notice how high you are. The only thing dangerous is if cops pull you over, you are FUCKED! I luckily have never been caught driving high, although in some cases, I was a big baked but the cop did not notice. My friend was caught hitting a bong in his car at a red light while a cop pulled up beside him. He got his car impounded and his licence taken away for 2 years. Just have to use common sense with these things. But other drugs is a big NO. I have tried driving on salvia 10X and also mushrooms peaking on 4g, and those where pretty bad ideas. They where in the middle of no where with a friend driving my car all the way to a safe location though. I do use some precaution when driving using psychedelics.
