Some questions regarding pan cyans

I've read some info that pan cyans like a substrate depth of 1.5-2 inches is this correct or is it more like cubes with an ideal depth of 3-4 inches?
Ive also read that they fruit better when the casing is uneven.
Can anyone confirm or deny these?
Thank you in advance

they definitely like their substrate shallow. can't speak to the uneven casing bit. they like a thin casing is what I've read.
Not speaking from experience but I've read a fair amount about em.

thanks so much mr. fox this thread is a great read so far. I'd been wondering if my pans were stalling on grains because a mistake I made or because of the species.

I was talking with him about it awhile back & he never found out what the deal was. Said he was gonna start a new culture and see how it performs.
But yeah, they're definitely different.
What really blows my mind is how clean the experience is. Intense visuals w/ little to no body load.

That sounds pretty awesome. I had an exact opposite effect with cubes once. Took a quarter at an Edm festival and ended up with absolutely no visuals and a body high so intense I could barely walk

I know the feeling all too well..
Hated eating cubes for that reason.. IME it was always a hit or miss with the visual aspect, but the body load was always there.
Cubes IMO have a dirty and edgy feel/atmosphere (I may get flamed for saying tht but w/e)

Meh. Everyone's body reacts slightly differently. But the body load seems pretty consistent. I've had one or 2 good visual experiences, that one time with the body load and the rest have been a mix of giggly high followed by nasty ego dump.

maybe this has been my issue all along. I've had a lot of bad experiences with cubes over the years. I never once considered that switching species might change that.
If its "cleaner" I'm sold.

You should definitely try different genus/spp.
Panaeolus has other compounds besides psilocybin, and psilocin. They also contain serotonin, urea, and baeocystin.. (There's one more I'm forgetting..)
