found these sprouting up at the base of a pine tree, on a golf course, in upstate NY


they were a bit more red a couple days before i grabbed these pics

Hm, very well could be! The first one especially looks like it. I'm not sure about the others just because of the mature and upturned the caps are.
Tried to have an experience with these the other night... drank about 12 grams of dried caps and didn't experience much other than what could have easily been placebo

Looks like amanita var guessowii they will be mostly yellow with red in the center. Amanita locations can often sustain many different species so make sure you pay attention. The vibrant red and/or yellow ones are generally safe. If you are looking for a trip the var guessowii varies in strength it is a good idea to dry or parboil, drink the water, and then dry. If you just want a snack the stalks are great with just a bit of ranch, but it is not a good idea to eat to much raw as there are toxins that will make you ill unless preped. I have been waiting for a few to pop for 3 days and they are still in the ovum it is killing me. They were nicked so I know it will be red or orange.
