The water consumption of most vegetables is much, much lower than any sort of cattle. Because you need to farm to feed cattle in the first place.

Also, meat does not feed people. Food does. Instead of feeding on chicken nuggets, you could feed on rice. You do not need such a high daily protein intake, especially if you spend your days sitting at a desk like most people do. Eating meat once a week is completely fine.
Bodybuilders need a lot of protein, yes. But when I'm taking a walk outside, I don't see bodybuilders, I see fat people. And I don't think they need meat that bad.

the retarded vegans want you to believe this is the case, I've never in my life seen a 'factory farm' for anything but poultry and then even the free range poultry is more often than not raised in the same conditions as any other chicken or turkey. free range in the poultry market simply means that the chicken has the ability to leave the building they're raised in, it doesnt mean that they were actually raised outside
free range is merely a marketing term to absolve the meat eating hippies of their guilt associated with eating meat, if they still want meat while getting it guilt free then they need to start sucking dick because that's the only guilt free meat available

Water consumption is an utterly irrelevant concern for overall agricultural considerations. Water is not destroyed when it is used. It just goes back to the ocean and then evaporates and the cycle repeats and repeats and repeats. Water shortages are strictly local issues.

Rice is food. Meat is food. If you need food, you can eat either meat or rice. Unless you need to follow a high protein diet, you can eat rice just fine, and reduce your meat intake.
And so the argument that "I need meat because I need food" is void.

Kukaracha said: In the end, whatever your point of view is, the reasons to cut back on your meat consumption are just too numerous.
Don't care about animals? Fine, do you care about ecology? Don't care about ecology? Fine, do you care about your kids' future? Don't care about your kids? Fine, do you care about yourself?
In the end, the only way to enjoy meat daily is to not care at all about anything, including your health.
Massive meat consumption : - is industrial torture and slaughter to ensure that you get the cheapest product, - is a wasteful production extremely demanding in terms of water, - has a huge impact on carbon emissions, - is equal to massive antibiotic intake, since raised animals are in such poor health they take vertiginous amounts of complements and medicine, - is expensive, - is bad for your health as it is a high-fat diet leading to cancer, liver and heart problems.
To each his own but at some point you have to call out people on this sort of behaviour.
I'm 6'1" 220lbs and 11.6 percent body fat as of friday. Pretty fucking strong too. Checked out healthy as fuck 2 months ago during my last ball fondling(physical).
I am living proof that eating meat is okay and perfectly healthy the problem is not meat it's lazy soft pieces of shit. You say most Americans lives sedimentary life styles... Key work right there, lifestyle is the problem. I go to the gym for an hour and a half to 2 hours every other day for free weights and Olympic lifts. That is not a huge chunk of time at all. A healthy active functioning body benefits from a diet high in animal protein. Obviously gets greens and shit in too. But I've seen the results of vegan athletes. They do not even come close to comparing to the carnivorous counterparts.

see my argument: what are we even having this argument for?
more food equals better life.
why NOT raise animals for meat? do animals just stop at the buck? no they keep growing and growing, so why not use them?
plus i do believe that the ecosystem is reliant on our keeping animal populations in check so that we don't lose any particular species of plant or animal &c.

that's my point! ecologically speaking, we need to conserve our species by eating others. as someone said earlier...life feeds on life.
and i will eat the very light of a cow, no Hindu will stop that.

"I don't care" is a perfectly fine argument (though not the most admirable one must admit).

Why not? See this thread or my post above. Though I personally never said we shouldn't do it altogether.
You also raise an interesting point here, as industrial meat production has caused numerous extinctions because we A)needed land B)did not care about a less productive species c)consumed to much of a certain species (see the state of halieutic reserves).

well, i didn't see your post honestly. there should be care taken in the preservation of our environment, but that doesn't mean we should stop eating meat, if that's what you're getting at, and if not, then i have no quarrel with what you've said.
what did you say?

which is why it's bullshit
these retards pushing the water footprint want to include water on corn and base it off a model in which cattle only eat corn, I've demonstrated more times than I care to remember that this is yet another falsehood to push a vegan agenda by animal rights activists when the reality is that cattle consume grass for the majority of their lives, grass, outside of well maintained lawns, it watered by the rain, just as the corn crop that cows are supposedly fed. now unlike himans, cows are fed the 'left overs' of the corn raised for human consumption, shouldnt that also apply to the human food water consumption since it was humans that wasted all of that water to only use the palatable parts of the plant and completely waste the rest
Quote:
Water shortages are strictly local issues.
I'm beginning to think it's a financial/mental issue
financial because people like Kanye have lush, green lawns in California while the poor cant afford to water theirs every day

and it's a mental issue because only crazy people would think it's a great idea to raise crops that require fuckloads of water in arid climates using irrigation systems that deplete the drinking water

this vegan push doesnt hold true. I say we start an experiment, we feed the farmers that grow your food nothing but rice, how long do you think it will be before you starve because they're malnourished and unable to grow your food

"John Lennon was killed by a fan. Where are Kanye's fans when we need them?"
