Gilled Mushrooms in Backyard
    #22379179 - 10/14/15 03:20 PM (8 years, 3 months ago)

Habitat: Growing on grass. Several are present.
Location: Cayce, South Carolina, United States.
Gills: Pale brown, densely-spaced, attached to stem.
Stem: 1.75 - 2.4 inches in height (including cap), thickness 1/4 - 1/3 inches, hollow, no annulus.
Cap: 1.5 - 2.5 inches in diameter (other specimens in the area were smaller), smooth surface, dry, mostly flat across top, ruffled edges.
Spore print color: Tannish-brown, similar to gill color.
Bruising: White inside with no observed color change.
Other information: Traditional mushroomy scent (that's the best I can describe it).

I'd thought it might be that genus as well, but I'm quite cautious when it comes to any gilled mushrooms. If it is in that genus, I'm definitely not eating it. Some of those species are bad news.
