ID request- did I find any?
    #22379174 - 10/14/15 03:20 PM (8 years, 3 months ago)

N00b here... Just a disclaimer:  sorry about the photos... They didn't look like this when I picked them! I hadn't planned a hunt today, just stumbled across them. Unfortunately this meant I had nothing to put them in, which meant they went in my coat pocket and got pretty squashed and bruised/dark. I've only been picking once before so I'm not totally confident in what I'm doing. I know what to look for (conical shaped cap with nipple, thin pale stem, dark gills) but I definitely need to study up.

If anyone can help me identify any one these I'd appreciate it. There's a good chance I didn't even get any liberty caps... Some could be, but it's hard to tell considering how squashed/bruised they are. (Don't worry, I'm not planning to eat any of these, just trying to get better at IDing 'em).

Habitat:
found today, late afternoon (sunny day), growing in a grassy clearing in a nature reserve. Damp grassy area. East Midlands, UK

Gills: range from medium to very dark brown. Some of the darker ones have a blue/purple tint.

Stem:
the bigger ones had stems about 2 inches long. The smaller ones about one inch. Thin white coloured stems, some quite brittle. About 2mm thick.

Cap:
varying in size, largest diameter being just under 1 inch. Varying in colour from an opaque golden white colour to medium brown. Some are conical and some more spherical. Some of the more conical ones have a "nipple". Smooth dry feel.

Bruising:
Some stems bruised to a medium brown, others to dark brown. Caps all got darker when bruised, the whiter ones bruised to a medium brown, and the brown ones to dark brown. Some seem almost black in places, and some of the caps and gills have a dark blue-ish/purple tint.

Other information:
Unremarkable scent - just a light; earthy, typical mushroom scent.

I placed them all out on 2 sheets of paper, got a couple of pics of each sheet. Also took some pics of the gills for comparison between them. Pics 1-2 I don't think there are any liberty caps (too spherical)... Pics 3-4 looks a bit more promising.. Any info would be helpful. Cheers.
