That's a big read, maybe I'll get around to it sometime.

I found it interesting that subjective distortions in time were often accompanied by distortions in spatial perception also, interesting, but not suprising. This author makes distinctions at times that space and time are separate which I am of the opinion they are one dimension which we experience as if we could see both sides of a coin at once.It is this dichotomous experience of a single space-time that causes the subjective anomalies described.Since one cannot fully experience(at the deepest levels of consciousness) both aspects of space-time simultaneously the brain reinterprets the input to accomidate the duality.
Psychoactive substances and other altered states can on occasion allow the "blending" of our perceptions of space-time causing the effects mentioned such as time dilation or contraction. It is interesting that these changes in the perception of time are often coupled with changes in spatial perception also but given the above it is to be expected.
Very good read, thanx Anno.

DAMN! nice find anno...i noticed there is a reference to a post on the shroomery...

if your more interested in time check out the books Timeless Reality : Symmetry, Simplicity, and Multiple Universes
by Victor J. Stenger and The End of Time: The Next Revolution in Physics by Julian B. Barbour...both really dive deep into the concepts of time.

ive experienced all of those time distortions except for 'time going backward' and 'time standing still'.

it is my opinion that the 'everlasting now' occurs when your body completly disregards your perception of time. when i have felt this...i have seen things move...i know the world is still going on, but i feel like ive slipped back and gotten stuck in a now, even though i can still perceive the outside...i wonder how they perceive me, stuck in a now that they blazed by without thinking about it at all...

anyways...damn good find.

~JSlice~
