Some type of mamiliaria or something like that. I a pretty sure some of those are psychoactive if u eat like 6 cus i remeber looking into it a while back but among the native americans they always looked down on it as being a negative spirit to i never tried it.
So many other cacti are active its weird how people only know of mescalin containing ones.

It's a Mammillaria all right. Narrowing it down further is tricky because there are many species that look like that. One that may fit the bill is M. tlalocii, given that it's flowering away from the apex, but it's an unusual plant to buy in the general trade. Where did you get it? Another possibility is M. supertexta.

Are You in the US, and I'm guessing you probably got that from HD, Lowes or Walmart right?
I have 2 very similar plants that I'll go check out a lil later and share the names.

What other active compounds are inside of cacti?

Well many mescaline plants contain mild sedative/ tranquiler compounds I believe and many other cacti contain just the latter.
I am sure there is a plethora of other random toxic, medicinal, and active alkaloids considering how diverse and widespread cacti are.
For instance I have heard of dimethyl mescaline or something like that occurring in the "red torch" cactus I believe, forget the actual name.
That would just be a different mescaline compound though, and there are already a few. Lophophorine being the most interesting to me.

i know for sure there are also some other types of Phenethylamines if im remembering correctly. also weird thing people don't know, saguaro is actually active. and the mamillaria trip supposedly has an afterglow which can last up to a week or so. Someone should try out some other types of cacti and make a thread about it.

For those who may be interested, I came across an interesting article.
The article was written by: RP Nelson, from Univ. Hawaii Botany Dept.
The article covers other kinds of (active) cacti, It is worth a read.

Interesting stuff, thanks for sharing. I wonder whats up with the "dehydro mescaline" it lists as in saguaro's, googling it brings nothing up it seems.

Its something that would require (research) musiclover. It is an analog. a compound. Maybe they meant Di-Hydro. I would assume given the name, it has 2 hydrogens open. I may be wrong. I am not a chemist or pharmacologist. lol. If there are such people reading this, I would enjoy their input

I had a look in Pilbeam. Of course, Mammillaria is one of the larger genuses - there are quite a few similar looking candidates - M. crucigera would be one such contender.
