Lol anyone who is growing cubes is taking risks already. Might as well live a little. Hahaha
If your torch ever did fall it shouldn't do much damage. At least not in a short period of time. Unless you use highly flammable materials around your torch. Which would be the real risk.
After using the same torch(different tanks of course) for about 7 years about 5 of which was for mycology, never once have I tipped it over, while it was lit anyways.
Also my torch goes out when held sideways.
Knock on wood, hopefully I don't tip my torch over and burn my house down tomorrow after opening my mouth.

You should be moving really slowly and looking at where your hand is going before it gets there while doing SAB work anyway so.. if you're able to knock over a propane tank in the process your sterile technique probably sucks too. No offense of course. Just facts.

co2 still kills people all the time dudes. all it takes is one slightly absent minded decision.
anyhoo, you can make an alcohol burner with just about any container that can handle heat and hold a liquid. wanna travel 1st class, add a wick. no need to spend money.
i have this ornamental burner that just has a metal cup to hold the alcohol.

Torches work better than alcohol burners. With a torch the blade/needle turns red almoste instantly.

Yea man I didn't like waiting for 30 + seconds with my lamp. If you have a lot of plates to work on it becomes so tedious! My propane torch was a great buy. Dunno why I was reluctant to get one at first

I just hope my sterilizing procedure was good. Soaked a paper towel with a bleach/water solution and wiped the walls, wiped the syringe down, put the needle on the syringe at the back of the SAB, wiped my jars, wiped my gloves several times before I did almost anything, wiped my little butane torch lighter, wore a cotton sweater that I tucked under my gloves and taped them together, took a shower before doing anything and washed a fresh pair of clothes, did everything inside my closet to try to keep the air flow down, put a wet towel down under the SAB, the holes in my SAB were small, flamed the needle between each jar, I worked at the back of the SAB, and I think the only thing that bothered me is my hand was over the jar a few times due to how I had the holes on the lid when I was innoculating so I hope that didn't screw anything up :/ I also sterilized my jars for a little over 90 minutes in the pot last night and let it cool overnight. I also used a little more of the syringe than I should've on accident. Instead of 1CC per jar it was more like 1.5CC or 2CC.

Oh dude that's legit man. Next time just wipe w ISO tho the bleach is too rough to breath
You'll be fine! Innoculating PF jars is pretty easy as long as you flame the needle between injections you cant go wrong. Provided the syringe was clean but most sponsor vendors are clean enough for BRF cakes

Huffing bleach a few times in an enclosed space will have him going out to get some asap. Hell even the iso takes a toll after a while if I'm doing a bunch of jars.

Only iso in my SAB is one iso soaked paper towel I use on all the jar/plate rims. I just spray regular water on the walls. Fuck wiping residue off.

Well the damage is done. I plan on getting some iso on my next try but as sad as it is to say, I can't even scrape up enough change to get iso right now.

I'm always shocked people are growing drugs when they say they can't afford isopropyl alcohol. It's like.. less than a dollar for a small thing of it. Shit must be rough.

Shit is rough. And I was being impatient. I'll either learn the hard way and use it next time or get lucky and still use it next time.
