get an intenship asap in your field of study... if you are not going to do that your only other option is find something that will put something more than ramen in your microwave.
your choice... i suggest getting into the field of study stat.

What do you like to do in your free time? If you can unlimited cash what would you do? (after the obvious buying tons of stuff, hookers, and drugs. What would you spend your time doing once those lost their novelty?) Where is your dream place to live?
If you answer one or all of those I think we could brainstorm some careers maybe.

I like the outdoors. I'd like to go on real life quests someday.
Once the novelty wore off of doing all those things you mentioned I think I'd like to plant a garden, feed animals and people, build shelters for animals. (none of those things I have ever done except feed animals)
Washington or California (neither of these places I have ever been to...)
Thank you very much for replying to my thread. I appreciate it. Also, thank you rackem.
Dude it is so obvious for me the perfect career for you it hurts. You should major in something along the lines of biology or enviro science. The job that really jumped out from your answers to me was national park ranger, some people think it sounds dorky, but both the states you mentioned have arguably the coolest parks and you can do all the adventuring you want. With a degree in bio or enviro you could easily do legit, and meaningful research in the parks. Also you're pretty much like a sheriff of the wilderness, like some wild west type stuff, out in the parks the rangers are the top dawg.

Dude biology sucked the life out of me before I switched to Neuroscience. I honestly wouldn't recommend it to anyone unless you plan on going to medical school. I guess ill elaborate on what I hated about it and what classes gave me the most trouble
1) there's very little critical thinking and problem solving in Bio, just route memorization of shit you'll never use
2) organic chemistry 1&2 gives a lot of people trouble. Be prepapred to pull a couple all nighters
3) genetics was just straight up hard as fuck for me. got a D my first time. Ended up having to take it again and only got a C.
4) animal biology was probably one of the worst classes I've taken as an undergrad. Memorizing phylogenetic trees and these huge clade names, on top of organ systems for just about w everything in the animal kingdom was such a pain in the ass

What about comp sci? How good are you at math?

Bigfeely123 said: It's weird you say that because my father mentioned that to me on more than one occasion in the past. I will definitely look into that. Biology in particular. The second year of college will I be able to take one class of each to see if I like it? Thank you so much for giving this suggestion and advice.
Malcolm makes a good point that biology can suck the life out of you, but it would to anyone who isn't interested in it. The same could be said about any field if you aren't interested in it. And the offering up the advice to study comp sci? Personally I am fascinated by it, but it sounds like you aren't.
No matter how difficult a subject is, if you are interested and truly involved, it will be easier than even the softest of majors. Not to mention infinity more satisfying, nothing is worse than studying something you aren't passionate about.
I personally like all sciences, but struggle most with bio. I don't get excited from in the way other areas do. But that said a major role model in my life is a bio chem PHD, and the way he talks about it I can't help but feel his love for it.
A suggestion I would give you is go pick up a copy of Scientific American and a copy of Nature. SA is a monthly magazine, that covers the big stories in science, most articles written by the people who did the actual work but written in a way that the general public can read. Nature is a more classic science journal, but pertains a lot more to your interests specifically. In both, more in Nature, there will be terms, words, and graphs that won't make much sense. DO NOT be dissuaded by these, 90% of the time you can easily figure out what they mean just by the context they're in. The other 10% will be learned easily from school. What you want to focus on is the general idea of the studies and discoveries, take note of the ones that you say to yourself, I'd like to do that even without being paid.
Also, steer clear of reading hype sci publications like Pop Sci, Pop Mec, Wired, etc... These don't do justice to any real studies and only hype science that pertains to popular culture.
As far as taking both classes, yeah you can, in most cases you need biology and a enviro sci class will fill a requirement anyway.

I tried computer science and it stuck. The expected salaries for kids right out of college is like 95k. This was for like a quality assurance position. I would look into it

I have no doubt that you can get really good paying jobs with a comp sci degree. That said nothing in his interests made it sound like a field he would be happy working in.
You can either do what you love, or do something you don't love and spend the earnings doing what you do. Both work, but the latter has the added step of doing something you don't love, why not just get right into it?

well thats true...But then theres the money
90k right out of college? I spend most of my spare time doing shit I love. And IMO i don't love my field but its interesting enough to work in. Learning to love your job is IMO a better idea
But OP do your thing if you think its a bad idea
