Found these guys in a bed of pine tree needles here in North Carolina. Bright rust orange color on the caps. Gills are light yellow, as is the flesh. Did not observe any blue bruising. In the process of taking a spore print now, going to let that settle overnight. Anyone recognize them? Thanks in advance.

Hmmm, interesting. The spore print came out white.

They are very very different to Gymnopilus species morphologically. You should compare the two. They also grow from a different substrate.

It's hard to tell the exact colour due to the lighting.

Nice collection, but I'm unsure what it is.
Can you compare your collection to Amanita barii (=Amanita caesarea sensu auct. mexic. (in part)), Amanita caesarea, and Amanita jacksonii? There's several sites to compare to.
Also consider Amanita arkansana for the sake of memory for future IDs.

Yes, I thought they looked a lot like Caesarea too. The problem is that article says they are not found in the US. If not active, a very interesting mushroom regardless. Thanks everyone for the input.
