You know in that video I posted they said Canada is more free than the USA probably because it's so spread out. Wilderness and shit. When a Government can't mess with a bunch of it's citizens because they can't get to them I guess that makes them more free right?

Also the fact that the USA has a way higher percentage of its population incarcerated. Like six times the percentage Canada has. That can't help either.

For real.I bet a bunch of it is drug related. I like this video for informing people on why to end drug prohibition.

Canada is not more free than the USA. Most of us actually live in cities not in the bush BTW. Our justice is just lax. People see light sentence for drug crime and think its progressive but we give violent criminals and rapists a slap on wrist too. Canada had it's Edward Snowden moment years and years ago when the media interviewed a anonymous member of CSIS (our NSA) and he told them they can listen to any phone call at any time with no oversight by anyone. The problem is our nation is fucking lazy and these revelations caused no protests. People got more upset about the hockey strike. There are things I like better about Canada but I strongly disagree we are more free. I can still get a life ruining conviction for a roach in my car's ashtray. You guys have state after state with great med pot laws or states it's legal. Even places it's illegal it's more and more often just a fine. In Canada people still get criminal records for half a gram.

It's nice to hear from a legit Canadian on the issue. Thank you for sharing. The list is a little weird. I have not looked up other index's. It' seems they base their judgments on some odd ball things maybe.
Shiiit I always thought marijuana was more relaxed in Canada. That's shity. My friend who still lives in FL of the USA told me not long ago that the cops busted this guy for 3 plants in his back yard. They just wrote him a ticket. I definitely think the marijuana issue is easing up greatly in the USA in certain places. If they legalize it in FL 2016 I'm definitely moving back to my homeland.

Canada is just coming through a period of very conservative government rule. I'm an old timer and it is the most conservative I have ever seen our government/policies. This without a doubt influences our level of freedom. This coming Monday I think our government is going to change from conservative to liberal. If the polls are correct and this happens our level of freedom is apt to improve significantly. Relevant to the members of this site---the liberal incumbent (Justin Trudeau) has said that he will legalize cannabis nation wide. If this happens we will no longer need to look south with envy for the progressive American pot policy of recent years. Fingers crossed that the tyrant that is our Prime minister gets his ass handed to him come Monday. I love my nation, but the last 10 years has been a dark spot on our position in the world.
