So Im confused as to how Ps. Cyanescens can grow on woodchips without a problem in the wild, but if I want to cultivate them I have to do these complex methods that require sterility or some sort of specially prepared growth medium.
So my question is. How do they grow in the wild? And Can I imitate their growth conditions without the need for complex sterility?

I solemnly swear to love her everyday. _____________________________________________________ I squashed a dragonfly and saw it writhing in pain. Ayahuasca taught me to feel what others do. I felt what it felt in that instance. I felt disgusted. I partially hate myself for it. I think Im turning vegan, man.

same reason a human can't practically live underwater, everything has evolved to thrive in their natural environment, so while a cyan will be 'dialed' in to the weather/climates outdoors, it takes a lot of effort or systems to keep an indoor grow within those parameters

I highly doubt he's trying to grow Psilocybe cyan indoors. I think there's only been a handful of people who did it, and it was pretty crappy for them.

Essentially each cap will drop an uncountable amount of spores, but it's not like there's uncountable amounts of patches all over the place. Think about the amount of things those spores have to compete with. The chances of success in the wild is actually extremely low. That's why we start off by germinating the spores in a controlled sterile environment, making some mycelium, and using that for a patch. That way we already have an established culture.
Truthfully you really don't have to be sterile at all. You can spawn outdoors with contaminations all the time. Here's what my contamintion pile did for me: http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/21856836
But I'd highly suggest getting mycelium before bringing outdoors. You can tell how low the chances are for spores..
