My cakes have benn birthed for a about a week now and no signs of any mushrooms. In a rubbermaid with perlite i also have a small tupperware container with a tank heater filled with water to keep it warm cause my house is kinda cold. They look good and i see moisture on the walls of rubbermaid but mush growth yet. during incubation i really didnt expose them to light or let them pin in the jar was that bad? Thanks for your replies any help is greatly appreciated

Normal, worry if you don't see pins in a week.

you mentioned you were keeping the birthing tank heated. How heated? Above 75F they'll just stay in the colonization phase. You need to drop the temp to get them to fruit sometimes.

Well how long did you keep the incubation time? Every species got his own period, but I would suggest you to keep the cakes inside the jar till the mycelium will be formed everywhere...
Amd yes, what about the temp?

Pictures would definitely help! :-)

R.

Yes as mex stated the cakes should be fully colonized b4 removal from the jars, if you don't wait long enough, pinning can be slow, and contams are likely. You DO need to turn the temps down about 10 degrees. Keep em at about 75f, go buy a cheap ass thermometer and CLOSELY check your temps! Several mins of light a day should be enough to initiate pinning, but many growers like more like 5-6 hrs a day. 75f + light + gas exchange = mush.
