I know about that big jar.. if you would read trough this thread you would know that... because i already asked questions on how should i spawn it....and i havent seen coir here...but also i havent looked for it. Could i just spawn it in those substrate mixes that are used for indoor flowers??? I could mix it with straw or smth IDK... any suggestions!!!!

Im not sure about that contamination....i have to wait 2 or 3 days to see if its not only like darker verm spot behind mycelium....

I did read the whole thing and all I saw was "hit it on a tire till it breaks up"which would work if it was grain but that's not how its done with a PF type mix that's why I said it and you can spawn it to any bulk sub material flower mix isn't a good choice BTW look for a grow shop or a pet store coir is cheap and the easiest thing to use by far its sold as reptile bedding at the pet store
EDIT:do you have straw on hand I saw you mentioned it above?

Lets say i get coir..what else should i need to make bulk substrate?

Just verm and coir, gypsum is good for any bulk substrate if you can get that.

:whathesaid: It adds some nutes and helps fluff up the bulk sub, making it easier for the mycelium to colonize it.

Are there any gypsum substitute?

day 16

1 jar is fully colonized
3 jars will be most likely tomorrow.
And big jar has to go at least week i think maybe 4-5 days

These smaller jars that i have colonize pretty fast despite fact that they are 310ml.

And that wasnt contamination that i spotted earlier just a bit darker mycelium ... im just paranoid because i didnt use PC.

So far my first grow goes well!!!
Im getting excited cant wait for fruiting.

I think that home depo that is near my home may have coir bricks i will go and check it out after my job tomorrow.

And i made test ...i put perlite in my sgfc to see how long humidity stays there before i have to spray it... will see how this turns out.

got coir brick so i can spawn now brf....and also i checked syringe that i used and it looked like it still have some spores that why i sucked up some more water in that used syringe and made like really small brf cake and inoculated it....i will try to make slurry from it....its already colonizing by the way.......

4 smaller jars are in consolidation phase and the big half litre jar is still colonizing

i cant wait when my brf cakes will be ready...what if i put them sooner in sgfc and i dont wait as long for consolidation...??? the pins will appear later or what...

i also made mini mono tub.. its shotgun style 21 litre tub....as i wrote before i will attempt to make slurry and inoculate 3 popcorn jars with it and if it works out i will spawn it in mini mono...i will do this tomorrow i will post pictures trough out whole process

I actually didnt have really much time so i didnt take pics of making slurry but i did it. I inoculated 4 half liter jars and one 310ml jar with corn....i hope that they aint going to be to wet cuz small jar and one of half liter jars looked pretty wet.

I also put my brf cakes in sgfc about 10 mins ago... i dunked them for 24h and rolled them in verm. How long should it take for them to start pining?

I believe direct spray may cause bruising

OK now i think that i still might be okay. its like day 3 in sgfc for them and humidity is big problem at the moment because air is really dry in my house ....
I came up with idea how to protect brf cakes -  i just took plastic bottle big enough to cover the cake and  i cut it in half and i put half of the bottle over brf when i spray

Why? You need to spray directly. I fine mister works best...it won't bruise near as much as with squirt bottles. Not misting the actual cakes makes misting pointless. Misting more doesn't increase humidity either. Try adding more perlite and making sure your FAE is adequate.

I'm likely too late making this suggestion for the big regular mouthed jar but my first thought would have been to simply break the jar in order to birth it rather than using the cake as spawn.

Nop your not too late cake was going really fast and suddenly colonization stoped for few days and now its going really slow but it should be done soon
