Playboy to go non nude

Sad that young men will never feel the shame of buying a porn mag. No wait that's actually cool. That's a great thing. I don't want some immigrant cashier judging my porn. I guess it's just nostalgia. It's actually kind of akward to hold the magazine and fap. And the pages stick together. And then your mom finds your stack. Yeah fuck porn mages I haven't bought one since 1995, the same year i got my first PC. Playboy never found a way to make money with online porn. I would not invest in porn, way too much piracy.
Playboy to Drop Nudity as Internet Fills Demand
By RAVI SOMAIYAOCT. 12, 2015
Last month, Cory Jones, a top editor at Playboy, went to see its founder Hugh Hefner at the Playboy Mansion.
In a wood-paneled dining room, with Picasso and de Kooning prints on the walls, Mr. Jones nervously presented a radical suggestion: the magazine, a leader of the revolution that helped take sex in America from furtive to ubiquitous, should stop publishing images of naked women.
Mr. Hefner, now 89, but still listed as editor in chief, agreed. As part of a redesign that will be unveiled next March, the print edition of Playboy will still feature women in provocative poses. But they will no longer be fully nude.
Its executives admit that Playboy has been overtaken by the changes it pioneered. “That battle has been fought and won,” said Scott Flanders, the company’s chief executive. “You’re now one click away from every sex act imaginable for free. And so it’s just passé at this juncture.”
For a generation of American men, reading Playboy was a cultural rite, an illicit thrill consumed by flashlight. Now every teenage boy has an Internet-connected phone instead. Pornographic magazines, even those as storied as Playboy, have lost their shock value, their commercial value and their cultural relevance.

I never considered playboy to be porn, it was more of a tasteful art if you ask me.

No nudes in Playboy makes as much sense as KFC to stop selling chicken. WTF.

Sweet. Break several decades worth of tradition by taking away the only thing that the magazine is known for. Solid business plan.

Thing is I'm guessing their business plan currently is failing, or else they wouldn't be making this drastic of a change. I'm sure they'll still remain provocative on a Maxim/GQ sort of level. But they probably feel the need to eliminate the nudity to move more towards the mainstream. Not that they weren't mainstream -- I mean Playboy was/is the closest magazine in the world to the general public & mainstream that any magazine has been -- but they're probably right, hardly anybody is going to buy a Playboy mag these days just for the nudity. Not when you can just log on to the internet and get as much free porn as you want.

I was watching the 1987 kids movie "Adventures in Babysitting" recently and noticed that there seemed to be heavy product placement for Playboy.

Never watched it as a kid but I think I remember Playboy being mentioned in other kids movies growing up in the 80s. No idea if any of these placements were paid, but Playboy was always the first thing you'd think of if asked to name a nudie mag.
