I think the pictures show everything that is necessary....no bruising that I could see. Except the really old ones had blue spots on them. Spores are rusty orange.

Can you provide more details? When you compare to G. penetrans and G. sapineus, what conclusion do you reach?

I think that they are probably something in the nevadensis-penetrans group. Cool find

This is a tree (a phylogenetic tree. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phylogenetic_tree
It was produced using software which can organize DNA sequences of Gymnopilus mushrooms (and a few other species as seen at the bottom of the tree).
The goal of creating this tree was to understand how closely or distantly the DNA is between species.

If we wind up meeting up I'd love to test one of those with the mmc test. See what reaction it gives.

I’m quite certain it is Gymnopilus Sapineus. And yeah man....we need to test the myc with these and find out what the deal is. Wikipedia says it is active but has anybody ever confirmed this?

So been thinking gyms don't often bruise quickly and often it's just little specks here and there. some pins will be fairly bruised and refrigeration fresh seems to accelerate the psilocybin decomposition.
My test results from the g. luteofolius showed more predominantly a psilocybin content with fairly slow decomposition to psilocin.
I wonder if that may correlate to gyms lack of bruising, they may have very little psilocin content while growing so there's not much in there to decompose into blue pigment.
Makes me wonder what reasons gyms psilocybin doesn't degrade as fast as psilocybin species. Or if psilocybin species just have a much higher psilocin content to begin with.
Ive been thinking I should test the ph of a wet gym cap near a bruise and in a clean spot to see if maybe acid build up in the moisture may be responsible for the bruises we do see.
And yah if we test these and they turn purple too then I think I might be on too something.
Need to find some g. aeruginosus this year too to test. Keep your eyes out for em.
