yah i considered that but i figuer after 4 seasons of hunting, the butcher costs would add up. i figuer if i invest early ill save tons in the long run. Then again im a pretty shitty hunter so far 2 or 3 seasons hunting and ive seen 2 squirrels when i wasn't hunting squirrels, and 1 baby doe when i WAS hunting squirrels besides some birds ive seen no other wild life This year i plan to hit it alot harder tho. Previous years ive had equipment problems, alot of it was trying to figuer out what i should be wearing and taking with me out there, another issue is where im hunting but i can't really fix that problem. Public lands suck dick, all hunted out, and i don't feel like going door to door like a magazine salesmen begging farmers to let me hunt. Shit sucks......but my plan this year is to just walk deep as fuck into the forest trying to go where no man has gone before and hope i have the energy to make it back out alive
You are going to hate me. I shot a deer in the first half hour of my first hunt. Not ten yards away. He went hopping down the path that I was sitting just off going away from somebody else. Perfect shot. You don't get buck fever when you haven't waited forever for a chance..
We field dressed it and there was a local butcher who would do the whole job just for the cape after it hung for a couple days. NY Finger Lakes region.

around here its kinda a weird culture, when im hunting public lands and i see other people they are always assholes. Like i got to this trail first right, im walking like halfway down it, snow so you could clearly see someone went that way. Im walking as slow as i can to not spook shit. These dickface practically comes running down the trail, comes up to me and says yo dude so where you hunting, i tell him im walkin down this trail n gunna find a spot. Dudes like yo i got this spot picked out up here already, im like so? Dude gets mad then walks even faster like he thinks because he gets down the trail sooner that he owns the spots or something. Meanwhile he prolly spooked every deer for miles. I mean i get it you scout ahead of time i get that but its first come first serve, you don't go spook the entire forest like a 2 year old in a candy shop. Ive i see a car on a trail already i go down further so i don't even have to worry about running into them or getting shot by the idiots, so i dunno just irks me. All the public land is like that, and when you drive past these trails and people are in their cars they give you these evil stairs like you better not park here

one thing i was thinking with a chamber sealer is i could make bags of water so i wouldn't have to haul around bulky bottles for when im out hunting

So curious, are you doing this to package the meat raw, or to vacuum seal it to freeze? Maybe getting what butchers wrap their meat in could be a good alternative to look into. Also when I refreeze meat I buy at the supermarket, I cut it into easily cookable sections, then stick in in the appropriate sized plastic bags, stick a straw in, suck out as much air as I can, then twist and tie up with string, or those little tie wires. It works really good, and will last a really long time!
Hope it helps some.

ok so i think i got it narrowed down to either the
http://pleasanthillgrain.com/ary-commercial-vacuum-sealer-vp-215-chamber-vac
http://pleasanthillgrain.com/dmc-260pd-commercial-vac-vacuum-sealer-chamber
http://pleasanthillgrain.com/dmc-260-o-commmercial-vac-vacuum-sealer-chamber
the differences from what i can tell is the vacmaster has plastic on the inside around the air sucker thing in the chamber which makes me question if they skimped out elsewhere as well. The DMC's appear to be metal there.
The other difference is the DMC's use a 1/2hp pump instead of a 1/4hp pump, however looking on ebay at pumps ive seen that hp doesn't always mean stronger pumps as ive seen some smaller hp ones have more suckson than bigger ones. But the bigger hp one 'might' last longer and be more reliable?
The DMC comes in alot of versions, some with 2 seal bars to do more smaller bags at the same time, which could come in handy but also $100 more, think i need that or no?
Another thing the DMC's can come with a curved bottom in the chamber, which threw emails ive found that the purpose is so you can seal liquids better, but i also invision it being much hard to line the bag up on the seal that way as it will want to curve in the middle and then might not seal well? Im really torn on the curved bottom idea
The other issue is thats the only website i can find that sells DMC's, according to the website they've done it for awhile, and do carry spare parts for them. But it does make me worry if that will always be the case, having only 1 place for parts could be a major issue.
Vacmaster looks like they have been around for a long time and parts are most likely everywhere, i can't tell which one is cheaper made really besides the 1 plastic part in the chamber on the more expensive model DMC's, they fold back giving easy access to the motor for oil changes which is nice. They have a gas model to which is for soft or delicate items so u can vacuum seal without crushing things, not sure if i need that tho
and i thought i read the DMC had an impulse type seal on it, but now i can't find where i read that so im not sure. looking at the pictures it kinda looks like it does but i dunno. The vacmaster uses 2 straight seals, DMC only has 1 seal but if its impulse that would be alot better right?
any incites?

so after much research on ebay of people peddling sealers i found a main supplier
http://usa.asc365.com/newproductdetail.asp?productid=151020&typeid=1835
so far thats the cheapest ive found for a rotary pump, only catch is the chamber is also one of the smaller ones, im not sure i will be able to fit roasts in there or not, 3.5" depth the price is really good tho and it comes with letters so i can put names in shit into the seal it makes a really fat seal like an impulse seal i think. pretty sure this is what im gunna end up with. Has a glass top instead of plastic as well, and bag holder thing. just wish it was deeper damit

dam so i just went full retard and started browsing the chinese manufactors from china

first time i seen one that holds the bag vertical, so many pros and cons to that. I checked into the customs duty thing with one of those online calculators and somehow it says $0 duty owed which was surprising, then again everything is made in china for a reason so i guess it makes sense that there isn't a duty i might have to buy everything direct from china from now on
