Should I use consolidated grain for a grain to grain transfer?

I've got a single jar left of colonized grain after spawning the rest about a week ago. I don't have any more spore syringes and would like to not have to buy any more so my options are to wait for my current crop to come in and use those spores in the future or use these less-than-ideal grains for g2g. What are some ill effects one would see from using older grain? Is it worth using?
(the reason I didn't do a transfer on a more ideal timeline is because I won't have the proper sized jars until next next week)

I don't think you'll have any problems using that jar for a g2g. Definitely seems like the best idea, as otherwise you'll have to start back from the spore stage again, which will take longer, and by that time you could have another 5-10 jars ready to go

I thought I read somewhere (probably in advanced mycology) that mycelium will begin to perform poorly as it ages from initial germination- including the mycelium that has since colonized something new. Something to do with the number of cell divisions it has undergone. Does that sound familiar to anyone?
That's really what I'm worried about- that I'm going to be working with an organism that's too old to perform well.

Right. Thanks. So is that an issue that would come into play here or is it not important in this case?
