Largest jar sterilizer?
    #22368422 - 10/12/15 02:09 PM (8 years, 3 months ago)

Alright guys. I'm realizing that in order to ramp up production, I need to seriously upgrade from the mirro 22 qt pressure cooker I have. Aside from the All American brand, is there anything with a large capacity? Like i'm thinking autoclave capacity. Anyone have any recommendations?

Yeah - diy. Check the gormet and medicinal section of mushroom cultivation.

Many many threads have been made and all the info is already there for you.

55gal drums, water heaters, etc

But dumb choice not going with an aa941 if all you use now is a mirro (already a serious upgrade) you probably wouldn't be able to keep up with the output of one 941 if you're having to ask what pc to get

Makes sense. I have 30 quart jars i'm trying to process right now, which is what prompted this question. I think next time i'll use spawn bags :/.

Yeah that will save you a lot of time.

I use two 941s on propane burners & can be cooking 12 bags at a time, 24 in less than a day. At 5qts per bag that the equivalent to 120qt jars in two cycles. So yeah 30 is like nothing. Hope you consider an aa..

Just watch craigslist or eBay

There were a lot of used all Americans on eBay yesterday. The 941 with a good hot plate or propane burner would be the ticket.

Btw, doesn't the presto 22 hold 15-20 quart jars?

I hate to say it also but aa's are the way to go. Unless maybe you were saying they were to small?

They will pay for themselves in one run. Mine turn 15 this year, if they were kids they could almost drive.

Presto 23qt holds 10 qt jars. Same jar capacity as the 921. 19 qt jars fit in my 941.

How do you guys run a 941 on a hotplate? That's gotta take forever to heat up. Gas gets these things going pretty quickly.

Craigslist can be a great place to find a good deal on an AA. Though, I can't say I've seen another 941 pop up in my area since I got mine. But I'm sure another will pop up. If I can grab another for the same steal I got before I'd deffinatley grab another!

Just get an All American.  There is no reason to go any bigger unless you're literally trying to fill an industrial warehouse.

Sadly, I've only seen 1 AA 941 my area within the span of 2 years on CL. Ebay might be my only option.

However, the jars all were processed, and it looks like they're colonizing nicely. My Tribal Jar failed after the second jar, though, so I had to switch to half a qt of g2g :/.
