Experiences with psychedelics aiding in stopping an addiction to other chemicals

Hello friends, im here today looking for some insight on psychedelics (preferably, but not limited to, Magic Mushrooms) aiding someone in either ending addictive behaviors (e.g. no longer stealing, lie-ing, manipulating) or ending the addiction by stopping use of the addictive substance completely.
Please note I am not suggesting that the psychedelics can just "cure" addiction or anything like that, but I feel they can definitely be a good aid in helping to end addiction and find happiness in the natural things again.
I would especially like to hear about addictions pertaining to opiates but all else is welcome; alcohol, cigarettes, whatever. Thanks for any and all input!

addictions pertaining to opiates
I'd look into Salvia divinorum. Same Kappa agonism as Iboga which can be tough to source.
It may reset the opioid system.
I read of an Iboga man saying this of Salvia. Here's someone who's done both: http://bluelight.org/vb/threads/668004-Iboga%28ine%29-and-Salvia
Dependence
Quote:
“resets” the neurobiology cancelling previous dependences on various substances (dopaminergic system?)
losing of interest in taking the drug in the order of days, months to rest of life
helps eliminate reactive, unconsciously determined behavior including dependences
reducing pathologically acquired or learnt associations
http://www.academia.edu/3484026/Ibogaine_for_drug_addiction_withdrawal_symptoms_attenuation
-------------------- Favorite entheogen experiences in descending order: 1)Combo of oral DMT + smoked Bufotenine 2)Amanita (urine drank twice) 3)Mushrooms > Achuma 16"+cid(still need higher dose Achuma)> Cid (still need high dose) 4)Morning Glory-HBWR (+cumin, cinnamon aldehyde adducts) > Methyl chavicol (need more activators) 5)Salvia (need to try quid)
All readable matter in the above post is ficticious... any similarities to real life are purely coincidental. Blessing.

Frequent use of psychedelic helped overcome physical addiction of cigarettes by keeping me busy. Not sure how that could translate to other chemicals

Check out Maps.org. They have all kinds of studies listed from several years ago up until recently that go over people overcoming addictions, mental disorders, etc. They also have a Youtube channel if you don't feel like reading studies although the studies go into great detail.

They do that, definitely. For weed for sure.
And FWIW mushrooms always TRY to make me stop drinking entirely. But they never succeed.

Similar story here. Cactus always tries to free from my addictions. It once told me that were I to continue along the path of addiction, I would spend eternity in chains.
That was a powerful motivating experience for me and has helped curb some addictive behavior, but I am still not cured entirely. Still on a low dose of kratom and still smoke cannabis almost every day.

Addiction interruption, end of life coping and PSTD are the major targets for the use of medicinal psychedelics in the mainstream. There is quite a bit of pre-existing literature concerning psychedelics and addiction recovery, so if you're interested I'd definitely do some research.
For opiate dependence, the one to check out is ibogaine, with many clinics offering services in Canada and Mexico (it's important to have knowledgeable health providers with ibogaine due to its pharmacology).
Anecdotally, and from the people I've talked with, classical psychedelics do aide addition recovery if that intention is truly established before going under (and I should say that if you take a sufficiently high dose it would probably arrive anyways). In this sense, set, setting, and dosage are all really important. You want an extremely supportive environment within which the experience will unfold with a sufficient dose to work deeply (clean behind the ears if you know what I mean).
