Migraines - hyperexcitable brain
    #22367326 - 10/12/15 09:40 AM (8 years, 3 months ago)

Hello, I've seen there are lots of posts on here about using psilocybin to prevent/ relieve migraine... has anybody tried this for the non-classic migraine or the general photosensitivity etc? With a few years of high-stress, my brain has become oversensitive to light, sound, all sorts of things... and I have these lower-level sensitivities/ symptoms constantly and have to constantly avoid a lot of things (including a lot of types of music and wearing a sun visor the whole time). I'm very grateful my symptoms are nowhere near as debilitating as so many experience, but it's still very limiting. I'm looking for something that might help calm my brain down, but also perhaps train my brain out of it. Many thanks in advance, p

You probably have mcs (multiple chemical sensitivity) too and don't realize it. Try changing your hygiene products to fragrance free products(especially your laundry detergent and fabric softener). Avoid people who wear heavy scented products. This helped me a lot, but probably the best thing for me was figuring out ALL of my food sensitivities and avoiding them. The solanacea family(tomatoes, tobacco, potatoes, jimson weed, eggplant, peppers, tomatillo) are my biggest migraine trigger and I suspect others as well. Of course it seemed that it's the lights, stressful situations, and sounds that were causing me headaches every day because that was all a symptom of the true problem, which were the toxic plants I was eating. At least give it a try for a couple weeks. Getting off of the solanacea plants actually made me extremely tolerant of chemical fragrances and other volatile organic compounds.

Many thanks for your reply. Absolutely re: chemicals... I have no caffeine or chocolate, and avoid alcohol, sugar, curry and chilli. Already have to avoid perfumes - even my deo (is a crystal one). Thank you for mentioning this plant family though - I'll give it a try. I'm also working up to the idea of excluding wheat, since it's currently quite a large part of my diet. Best wishes, P
