Got grow kit, need help identifying and is it safe?

Okay so! I got a shroom kit from Magic Mushroom Kit (www.magicmushroomkit.ca), and everything has been going fine. A few days ago i noticed it started to pin, checked it yesterday and it had grown a tiny bit, and today I checked it and saw that they seemed to grow fully, and even opened, but the tops were black and the stems are white. On the website it says they are Stropharia Cubensis Cuban. They do not look like they are Stropharia Cubensis Cuban, however I am new to this so I could be wrong. Does anyone know what strand it is, and if it's actually safe to eat? Should we pick them, throw them out, or dry them? And should we keep a close look of the rest of them and maybe catch them before they become like this? Here's a picture:
Any knowledge you have towards this is helpful - as I am new to it.

Yesterday they were still just sprouting and they were white and fuzzy. This morning I check to see this. So I suppose last night/today?

can you take a closer picture of that pin forming by the base of the two open ones?
those dont look like cubes to me, but its also hard to tell cuz they are so far past their pime.
id say pick them and dry them, but dont do anything with them until someone can confirm for you what they are.
are Stropharia Cubensis supposed to be the same thing as Psilocybe cubensis?

Heres the closer look (I ended up picking what was there and putting it in a bag for now, drying them soon)

If you need a better pic let me know
And yes it is, to my knowledge at least.

im gonna say based on that pin those are not cubes. iv seen contaminating mushrooms like that grow before.
i think its some kind of "ink cap" mushroom.
im not by any means an expert, but i could say with 99.9% certainty that those are not cubinsis.
honestly everyone on this forum would agree with me that grow kits are no good, you would actually save money just to order your own spores and do it yourself. then you can at least be sure of what it is that you are growing, you know what i mean?

I was actually thinking they may be some sort of ink cap after I picked them because they left a black "ink" on me when I did.
And yeah, yeah.. We (me and my bf) were just new to it and knew the kits were legal to own where we live, so we got right one it and bought one. We should have done more research >.<
Do you know a good place to get spores?

Check the sponsors list and order from them. Get everything you need and never waste time and money on a kit again. That is definitely some kind of Coprinoid sp. Not sure which species, but I would just throw those away.

The general recommendation is any of the Shroomery sponsors. They'll be on the banner ads or in the sponsors section under the home menu of this site.

Your not the first person on these boards to buy one of those kits from them and grow those same non-cubensis mushrooms as mentioned by natedawg.

Well my penis envy grow kit seem to outperform most of the homemade cakes ive seen here so there are good kits. Id say it all lies with the vendor.

This must be a common thing from that vendor. This isn't the thread I remember, but same thing as you and the one I'm thinking about.

Damn. These vendors are getting away with highway robbery. I could put together a kit and sell them for 1/3 of the price as these douchebags are putting out on the market.
Besides, anyone that serious about this hobby quickly learns there are no cutting corners. Put in the hard work and you shall be rewarded.

Absolutely. Though really, so far I can't say it's really been hard work. Just put the time and effort into it. And read. A lot.

Hi,
I have used these kits many times with successful results. I have had this happen once and I was advised it was due to improper sterilization of the straw. They replaced the kit for me and I used the boiling instructions and all was good. I would suggest contacting them and see what they say.
