Potential P. Caerulipes habitat?
    #22367215 - 10/12/15 09:14 AM (8 years, 3 months ago)

Hey guys. There's this little area in the woods behind my house (southern Michigan) that has a ton of fallen birch trees and a bunch of moss growing on some of the wood too. It hasn't rained much at all recently l, and I've still found a surprisingly good variety of mushrooms there. Just want to know if this looks like it'd be a solid habitat for psilocybe caerulipes to grow? If so I'll be sure to check it much more frequently. Also, let me know if there are any other species that I should keep an eye out for. I live on a horse pasture as well if that's a good area to look too at this time of year. Thanks

Caerulipes already fruited this year. That would be a decent habitat if the logs were much more decayed and there was less light. Caerulipes need a lot of moisture, so you usually find them above streams on fallen beech trees and less on birch. Check out this year's caerulipes threw for more details.

Caerulipes fruit in August after a big rain. They fruit for about two to three weeks before they disappear.

Anyone around here know what I should be looking for at this time of year?
