Mexican Fruit bats used to be viewed as evil things, like spiders, and where all but exterminated. Then people came to realize that Mexican fruit bats can eat around 10 times their body weight each night in insects--gnats, flies, mosquitoes.....

If a spider scares me by darting across a surface in front of me or something, or one finds it's way on me somehow when I'm not expecting, my instinct is to kill it, which I think is natural. Fight or flight response. Science, bros.
However, if I happen to notice one from a far and it interests me, my first reaction is usually to take a macro picture of it. I actually have loads of macro spider pictures saved on a drive.

If I see a few bugs and one of them is a spider, I will let it live. It's basically a free exterminator. An investment.
Right now I have 3 spiders... They're just chilling on their web. They haven't moved in hours. One of them got lucky and caught a fly!
Could you do that? Am I crazy? All the usual questions...
I put it outside...

I let spiders live depending on the size/type. If there's a black widow or hobo spider roaming around then the poor fell is gonna die. I also get a lot of box elder bugs that creep their way into my place every year and they are soooooo annoying, so they all die too.

I just keep them around for company and fly catching duty. We have a lot of flies here, killing spiders would just be shooting myself in the foot.

I own a tarantula so they don't bother much. My shower/bathroom downstairs always has some sort of spider chillen in the corner at the base boards or in the corner of the shower Edit: if they get into my bed though they can fuck right off

I kill the spiders inside my house. I live by a big river and there are bugs absolutely everywhere. Something needs to keep the spiders in check, otherwise they lay eggs and multiply in the house. I do not kill the spiders outside though.

Not since I met my girlfriend. She loves spiders and really all creatures except fish. So now I refrain from setting their souls free. I still do not appreciate their presence though...

What's wrong with fish? How does this effect your relationship as a fish yourself?

I kill those fuckers immediately ,ruins my activity because I don't want that shit crawling on my body and then the added factor that they may bite, cockroaches and spiders I kill without hesitation. Inside that is,outside it depends.

I kill cockroaches, but not spiders. I really don't get many inside my house. The outside of my house is a different story. There a black widows everywhere, along with normal amounts of other spiders. There is one really big black widow that lives in a crack where I park my car. When I pull in at night I look up and he pops out, looks at me, and pops back into his house. Its kind of a funny tradition we have.

I usully just catch them in my hand and walk them outside.
But if they are cool sometimes I'll keep it as a pet like this black widow I found last week.

No. I've got a chill one that lives in my dancing bones plant in my window, he/she keeps me company.
