* Downed oaks and pines * Disc golf course North FL panhandle * Scaly cap, Orange, turn hands to Cheetos color * Stem turns black after a while when squeezed on smaller ones * orange * smells natural * dark

Gymnopilus. The ones in that first photo at the lower far right look different maybe.
If they turn blue anywhere it would indicate they are active, post a photo if you notice this.

Thanks, yes, the ones in the bottom right on the 1st photo, are different, but I believe different gyms. They have a lighter cap. Either way they are all gyms.
I picked and bio-assayed them from Central FL before so I am certain.
Just happy I found some today playing disc golf. Probably quite a bit more if I actually looked.
Thanks MidnightCity.
~Hi if anyone remembers me~
Peace

a few more?
I got the stem-butts and kicked in a few downed oaks in the backyard and just impregnated some fat logs...lol
They must grow!
all the above are 100% confirmed active gyms from C.FL mostly on palms so probably G. Palmicola.

Nice. Compare to http://www.shroomery.org/12463/Gymnopilus-aeruginosus
Can you post a brief description of what it looks like in-person?
Some of those pics do not initially appear to be Gymnopilus. You might want to post the best possible pics you can of each specific collection. You sound pretty confident though, so your call.

I bio-assayed all of them 'cept my 1st post but I am 100%. They all very in strength tho. I remember Bloodworm was finding many like mine years ago.
What pics you want more of? these from today?
Best way to describe the way I find them is: 1) downed trees not in open sunlight, under tree canopy and they look like orange polypores, actually growing off the tree like a shelf, they hug the tree so close, but when you further inspect them they have stems are growing out, mostly up from around the tree. I have seen palm trees covered all the way up.
what more pics you want?

old pic different Gym than from mine today, but still...niiice

Any pics of the Gymnopilus would be cool. The more there are to study, the better.
Especially this collection: https://files.shroomery.org/files/15-41/460057120-pic4.jpg

Here a few more, they are, bluing is extra tough to see on most gyms, if you pinch the pinners is the best way to tell.

IME these are 100% active.

I believe these recent Gym's are https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gymnopilus_aeruginosus
Gymnopilus aeruginosus grows gregariously to cespitosely on stumps, logs, and woodchip mulch/sawdust on hardwood and conifers; Gymnopilus aeruginosus grows in spring, fall, and winter, common in the Pacific Northwest, it also grows in some of the southern states of the United States, such as Tennessee, and Georgia.{and now N FL, I believe C FL too, however many of the above are G. Palmicola} It is also found in Japan and Korea.[2]
1st I thought these because they grow in the east and are active...except the cap size was way to small...so not these.... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gymnopilus_luteoviridis
.
