Shelf life of unused pasteurized sub?

Pasteurized about 5, 5 gallon buckets of chopped straw on Thursday, meant to spawn tubs on friday. Not gunna be able to get to it for another day or two.
Now I know a few days probably isn't a big deal but since I always spawn right after I pasteurized it raised the question.
How long is it safe to keep pasteurized substrate around before you mix your spawn in?
Thx!

Well Im glad I asked! This straw is in capped 5 gallon hardware store buckets, and I guess its been 3-4 days.
So using this straw would probably be OK but not ideal I take it, it wouldnt be a big deal to just chop up another bale
This is straw for 6 tubs, so what do you guys vote then thumbs up or down?

i hate to vote thumbs down on a mushpunx thread, but ….
if it were poo, i would say go for it. but with straw….in a sealed container, done with open water bath, i am not to sure. if it was enclosed in bag during pasteurization>stored, i think it would be safer.
if u added lime to it, then more safe.
sucks cause straw takes a bit to chop.
i've definitely used peat 3 weeks after pasteurizing many times safely. poo, I've had it contam after 2 weeks in jars, but there was chx poo and straw it in. i think plain poo would store longer.

Well, honestly dude Id rather chop and pasturize another bale of straw than lose six tubs over this!
I have enough trouble with mold as it is
Thanks guys, definitely glad I asked!

I would use straw right away. Agree with BL. And honestly, idk why you guys ask this question. If I ever pasteurize too much, i just throw it in my garden. Why take chances?

I didn't pasturize too much dude. Id prepared enough straw for the six tubs I was about to spawn on friday, but something came up and I got delayed. Its still sitting in the buckets where Id left them.
Chopping that bale up sucked balls! I figured I o ughta ask sometime right?

I'm not sure. I've done it with poo, but never with straw. Maybe someone has done it though

Maybe it just needs some time to get back to normal? Like maybe a month or so to get its natural flora back? I know you aren't really supposed to pasturize much longer than an hour. So I would think double pasturizing is bad but that's pure guesswork by me haha
I bought a couple of these today for 3.50 each when I was pumpkin picking.I love the fall! Living in th err inner city its kinda hard to get country stuff without a drive
