Just saw a short section of Event Horizons on IFC yesturday.
Whoa, that movie is freaky. Its cool to see Lawrence Fishborne on a different movie than The Matrix.
Everyone going mad is freaky as hell. What a great movie.
Definitely a new favorite.
My other favorites are the Jason series and the entire Wrong Turn series. The Cube/Hypercube, if those count as "scary movies". I think they do.
How about you guys?

Event Horizon is ACTUALLY scary as fuck. good choice.
Exorcist would be another one.
Blair Witch Project (yeah, i think it's scary just the way it's done)
Texas Chainsaw Massacre
Night of the Living Dead
Rosemary's Baby
Suspiria
The Descent
these are a few great horror movies...not just because of shock, or because they're surreal, but because they're actually scary, i think.
but you know, there is one i still haven't seen yet, that sounds amazing and has gotten rave reviews... It Follows.
check it out, OP. i know i'll be doing so.

The only one that ever really scared me was the Exorcist. And Alien. All the others I pretty much just laughed at.

That's a really difficult question to answer. Scary movies aren't really scary to me anymore. You can always see what's coming. So none are really scary. That means we have to go with "horror" and of that, the first thing that comes to mind is cabin in the woods.
Now if I were to go back to my childhood and name on then, I can. Trolls (1 or 2, not sure which) and People Under the Stairs.
I think I might of been 10 years old when I watched both. Both the same day (my family was boot leggging movies back when VHS was only just becoming the norm). People under the stairs wasn't too bad, I mean it kinda scared me, but it wasn't horrible. After trolls, I refused to trust anyone who would feed me for years. Legit terrified of eating food. I remember looking around the living room and wondering which one was gonna eat me.
--------------------
With my face against the floor I can’t see who knocked me out of the way. I don’t want to get back up but I have to so it might as well be today. Nothing appeals to me no one feels like me, I’m too busy being calm to disappear. I’m in no shape to be alone contrary to the shit that you might hear. You can't wake up, this is not a dream. You're part of a machine, you are not a human being With your face all made up, living on a screen. Low on self esteem, so you run on gasoline

Human Centipede 1 and 2 Cannibal Holocaust Drag me to Hell Funny Games Nosferatu 1979 Knock Knock Frozen (Adam Green, no Disney) Creep Tusk The Poughkeepsie Tapes
My horror scale is based on scariness but more kind of agitation/anticipation we call it spiciness kind of like a hot pepper. So a weak horror movie is like a bell pepper A medium strength one is like Wasabe: Pretty hot but when its over you instantly go back to bass line and Habanero, where you still feel some heat 1 hour to 6 hours later any may even have nightmares or dreams about it.

Frozen and Drag Me To Hell are excellent...so it Cannibal Holocaust in it's own way...and Nosferatu is just creepy in it's looks alone. haven't seen any of the others, but i've seen trailers for The Poughkeepsie Tapes and that shit looks fucked beyond all hell.

The Thing Halloween 1 & 2, plus the Rob Zombie remake of the original but his sequel was meh. Night of the Living Dead/Dawn of the Dead/Day of the Dead and all the remakes (except for Day which was... well let's just pretend it never existed and that a remake still hasn't been made.) Trick 'r' Treat An American Werewolf in London Ginger Snaps Friday the 13th Part II and The Final Chapter (Part IV) Creepshow The Babadook The Evil Dead 28 Days/Weeks Later V/H/S Let the Right One In The Ring Paranormal Activity Poltergeist The Blair Witch Project The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 1 & 2, plus the 2003 Jessica Biel reboot Carrie [REC]/Quarantine Hellraiser 1408 Tales from the Hood Nightmare on Elm Street Re-Animator 30 Days of Night
If Masters of Horror episodes count I'm a big fan of "Cigarette Burns" and it also stars Daryl from The Walking Dead some good shit.

And now, except for a still brilliant performance from Mr. Tim Curry, that movie is cheesier than dipping mozzarella sticks in a fondue dip.

Ephesians 6:12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Psalm 12:6 The words of the Lord are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. Hebrews 11:3 Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear. Revelation 3:11 Behold, I come quickly: hold that fast which thou hast, that no man take thy crown.
