Mold on my filter

So after decades of dealing with contamination I have a breakthrough but I'm super pissed about it. I never thought to look at my filter from all sorts of different angles and behold the mold.

So wtf is to be done about it? Only thing I can think of is I got fubar one night and splashed agar on that slot, I honestly don't know nor does it matter at this point.
What matters is what if anything I can do to save my filter?
Hit it with IPA? Bleach? Stungun? I really don't want to have to buy a new filter but I obviously will and build a new box if there's no saving it.
Ideas anyone?

Defiantly go out and get a new filter . would be the best idea . don't leave any ideas of doubt, using bleach etc, might not get all of the mold out

I'd love to just run out to Walmart and what h one right up but yeah, money and such.
I feel like there's probably a pretty decent way to ensure everything is dead just don't know what would be more efficient without further destroying the filter material

Really though what should I do? Buying a new filter is the last step so I might as well try some stuff that may or may not work as if it doesn't I'll just have to buy a new one anyhow.

It's just on that spot pictured. Very low humidity too. Only thing I can think of is somehow lc or agar or other nutritious liquid got spilled on it but ionno how.
I hit it with iso a few times and let it dry, rinse and repeat but I really wanna take some bleach at it but I fear for the filter material.
I run the thing plenty. This has to be what's been giving me shit since I usually have my donor ages on that side.
I would have never seen it if I wasn't so damn clumsy and dropped something causing me to bend down at a fucked up angle. It's totally invisible from straight ahead because of the grill

Nuke it. Find some gamma radiation

You have more faith in people than me then, lol.
I was more offended because it felt like a slap in the face to anyone who is a TC.

I hear most tc's like to be slapped in the face with stuff.
Anywho do you think bleach would degrade the filter to the point of failure? I've hit it with 70% IPA several times. Maybe if I took a hairdryer as close as I could get it it might be hot enough to kill something.

i love being slapped in the face with air from a clean HEPA
maybe test the bleach but using a Q tip dipped in the solution and rubbing a small part of the filter in the corner and seeing what happens after a night or so?
silicone over the mold and suffocate it?

Whats the back side look like?
Wonder if it came in through from the other side.
Would be nice if you could UV treat it.

nah, it got started up front unless his humidity is high.

Do you think its just on the outer surface, I mean even if it started there. I'd be a little scared that its embedded. I do like encapsulating it.
Whatever you do, I'd run it for a while after. Then stick an agar plate in front of it for a while and see what grows.
Can ya run it through the dishwasher, with some bleach? (I used to clean plates etc, with bleach in the DW before sterilization)
But yeah pretty shit fucked, there is some underlying problem that should be addressed.

yea, it could spread for sure.
u dont wanna get the filter wet though. it looks like the mini pleat kind.
maybe move ur grill forward too 1/4". looks like its touching the filter almost, so anything landing could collect and build up. maybe if u spilled LC, it wasn't able to dry up fast enough with hood off??

I'd try a UV light but you'd have to take the screen off for all the UV light to hit it Look at this on eBay:

Bleach on the filter? Might work, might not. Think about it this way. You need to buy a new filter as of now. Hitting it with bleach may fix that.

Yeah the grill is built on so no dice there. I really think it was lc, its the only thing that makes sense why its localized.
I feel safe with iso so imma hit it several times over the next few days, letting it dry very well. Maybe some h2o2 would be more filter friendly than jumping straight to bleach?
Dunno what the backside of it looks like and would rather not "pop" my box until I go to replace the filter.

I have filter stops in it but my box had a teeny gap around where my filter sits so I filled that mofo with silicone lol.
This makes perfect sense though. All of my transfer and stuff are clean because when I do agar stuff I work right in the middle. When I nocc bags I have my plates right in front of this spot on the right and my bags on the left.
Likely what's happening is when I cut a wedge and lift it, its getting shit blown on it from the filter and then being dropped into the bag, hence why my contams always show right at first flush, its taking that long to germinate and fight the myc for a foothold.
Summabitch. At least I'm not going crazy and my sterile tech really isn't worse than every noob here.
