dude. dude. duuuuuuuuuuude.
watch Kyousougiga. now.
if you want an amazing anime that has outright trippyness that leaves you wondering is going on the first couple episodes, its one of my favorites.
very psychedelic. and silly & emotional.
edit: like strait up skip to this one if you want actual trippyness, all these other recommendations are good, but they don't even compare wise

Really dug summer war when I saw it awhile back, very well animated and great story too.

It really deserves a sequel too. Can't wait.
Hanz.
So are they making a part two then? I just finished episode 12 and am going to start the specials. Damn, of course they are super short.
They definitely did the cliches pretty well, was a pretty funny show. Slightly creepy at times but they did it pretty will
I'm not saying I know of any plans to make a sequel. I just meant to say that they should make a sequel because the story and the characters deserve it. I expect the show to have been a success in terms of sales, but I'm not informed about the anime market really...

I checked the wiki article and did some reading and it seems there are plans to make a second season but it could be another year or two at least
Hopefully they get around to it becouse it definitely is a really cool story and I loved the animation. Already am tempted to re watch it since it was so short...

I just finished Brynhildr in the Darkness and was pretty impressed over all.
Had some akira type superhuman secret experiments and plenty of anime cliches. Had a nice balance of intensity and comic relief.
I would definitely recommend it.

I will have to reference this thread in the future so I don't forget all these shows I need to check out...
I started watching Jojo's Bizarre Adventure earlier, pretty interesting so far. The dubbing is hilariously atrocious though, so many cliches

Well I watched all the episodes of the 2000 Jojo's Adventure and was getting pretty into it tell it stopped towards the climax of the arc....

Now I don't want to check the others out, I tried one and it was only 3 episodes and covered the same plot as the one I watched.....
Anyways I just started Jyu Oh Sei: Planet of the Beast King and am in love with the animation so far. I may need to get it on dvd if I can.
Here is the only pic I could find depicting some of the beautiful nature art:

Seems full of that style with some sci fi stuff too for balance, partway through the first episode and figured I would recommend it.

Just thought of the name of a weird but funny one I couldn't remember earlier: Excel Saga.
Another good one is Gantz.

Couldn't find any decent vids for them but Serial Experiments Lain and xxxHolic
I've watched a fair amount of Fate/Zero and Black Lagoon on various psychedelics and too, but I dunno if that kind of show would mix well with tripping for others. Rather grim and brutal. I fucking love em though.
-------------------- "I have no way of knowing whether you, who eventually will read this record, like stories or not. If you do not, no doubt you have turned these pages without attention. I confess that I love them. Indeed, it often seems to me that of all the good things in the world, the only ones humanity can claim for itself are stories and music; the rest, mercy, beauty, sleep, clean water and hot food (as the Ascian would have said) are all the work of the Increate. Thus, stories are small things indeed in the scheme of the universe, but it is hard not to love best what is our own—hard for me, at least."

Those two vids both look cool, I watched all of one of the fate/stay nights on netflix recently and got pretty into it.
Definitely some cool n trippy concepts in it but it does get pretty intense, a lot of anime's do though. I love how many blend lewd comedy with dark concepts.
