AA 25x Damaged?

I had bought a "backup" AA 25x on ebay for $100, and after replacing a few parts that looked bad (handles, knobs, etc). I finally decided to test it out today.
The toggle valve was leaking at the bottom. That shouldnt be a big deal once I take it apart tomorrow, clean the vavle seat, and apply some thread tape. Hopefully that will fix that leak.
But also, there was leaks all over the edges of the sterilizer. I did lube it with Petroleum jelly, and closed the knobs accordingly. Although it managed to reach 15psi, the entire time there was water and steam dripping out of the autoclave, after cooling down, I noticed that once the lid is sitting flat and closed, it wobble up & down, from left to right, and no matter what I have tried to do, it seems like it wont seal all the way "evenly" and it keeps wobbling.
Does the lid sound to be damaged? It would suck to have to return it after snatching it at such a great price.

….i mean…leaking at the seams is not something i would want in a PC….right?
i recentlty replaced an AA exhaust with a stop cock. i did it wrong at first. stripped the teeth. leakage at 5 PSI. i probably could have gone higher. but no need. steam exhausting thru run frequently is not something i want, even if i could compensate thru increased water fill rate.
u need a thread tap dude. or else u need a new lid. not end of the world. i had same issue.
pressure holding vessels are no joke.
if ur jam leaks steam or condensate at 15 PSI, IME, it is not ok.
there are 2 thing at the hobbyist level that can damage us IMO
-shaking jars by hand (glass cuts) -un-regulated pressure vessels (u blow up)
please be careful. used equipment is the shit. used equipment not taken care of is…a different story.

Leaks on the edges of an AA are usually indicative of residue built up on the seal. You need to clean the metal seal regularly. Use some iso and a paper towel, get it squeaky clean and then lube it well before using again. Should work way better for you.

I took some 400 grit+ sandpaper to both the lid and pot of my 921. It took care of the leaks. I had tried lube in the past but it didn't work. It's like pasty said, cold be residue. I used aluminum polish after I sanded it. I have not had a Leaky out stuck lid since.
