"whatmans are water proof" I don't understand this statement, whatmans are designed to filter water/liquid from a syringe. They are designed to have liquid pass through them.
Wrong. They filter gasses not liquids.

This is the first thing that caught my eye on a search:
If they are waterproof how is this guy making liquid pass through the filter?
My understanding is they are for filtering water or gasses.
I could probably pull up a few more examples if I wanted...
Here is another example....

Also citing concerns about carmelization in this case is about the equivalent to 'overlay', basically a non issue.

It was spinned by a Magnetic Stirrer and it still has rubbish settled in the bottom of the jar.
Should I shoot it up, or redo it?
Am just thinking that once/ if mycellium grows in, it will just make the solution even thicker, hence I will have a difficult time sucking it into a syringe!

I don't filter lcs and I am usually able to suck up about 85-90% of the fluid before clogs become a serious issue. Will filtering help prevent clogs? I don't know. If the lc starts to form islands though those are really clog prone. The 6% sugar solution will take more time to colonize, so if your looking for quick action you might redo it and dilute it.

I dont like caramelizing, because a clear solution makes it easier to spot contams.

I haven't found it to be a problem in that regard, but whatever works for you
