I'm no expert by any means but they look like puffballs to me, I'd wait for somebody with experience to confirm

The first is Lepiota naucina, the second Lactarius scrobiculatus.

EDIT: My apologies Stumble. You are correct as to the second pic. Having never come across such a fungus, I allowed myself to be influenced by the fact that the specimens were surrounded by mature L. scrobiculatus. Thus I thought they were pins of the latter, dried from the weather and with their 'milk' cavaties emptied. They are, in fact, earthballs...most likely Leopard earthballs or Scleroderma areolatum.

So cool! I am so ready to find some edibles and really hoping to find some cyans or alenii this year! We finally got some rain in my area but now it looks like it's going to go back to hot and sunny for a while...
