Libs and maybe some Cyanescens?
    #22357858 - 10/10/15 07:18 AM (8 years, 3 months ago)

Hey everyone.
Went out on my first hunt yesterday. Looking for Libs mainly but planned my route through some woodland so I could keep my eyes open for any Cyanescens that I might see on the off chance.

I found the big guys with wavy caps hanging out in the woods around a small clearing near the base of some trees, just off the path. Plenty of overgrowth, dead branches and wood mulch around, the spot was near a river. Whatever they are they looked like they’d been there a while, most of them were nibbled to half eaten. They were very wet and fragile, didn’t survive transit well after picking.
Tried spore printing them but get very little result, I think because of their age? What I can make out of the prints look brown or maybe purple but I’m uncertain.
Perhaps some of you more knowledgeable people can enlighten me as to what they are? I’m just curious really.

After the wood I found myself some north facing grazing fields, about 350masl, lots of patches of sedge grass, sheep and some cows. Sure enough I found about 300 of what I’m fairly certain are Liberty Caps. Being a noob though a confirmation would be greatly appreciated. They spore print purple.

Cheers!

The first set is an Entoloma species. Your libs do indeed look like libs, although I think I see at least one Panaeolus in there as well.
