"3th Flush. ~100g Fresh."
"Collecting some spores."

Some additional notes/questions:
- Is waiting for a small fourth flush worth it?
- Once the sub is fully spent. Should the cultivator bury it in the yard? Even though temps might drop below freezing pretty soon.
- Is there any other way to extend the usefulness of a spent cake/substrate?

Some do what is called super spawning if I remember correctly but results are crappy as far as I know. Yes keep getting as many flushes as it takes for it to contam. As for burying it I guess if you put it deep enough it will insulate it enough to keep it from freezing. Don't have anything to lose except some sweat do you?
Congratulations by the way

The consensus about super-spawning seems to be that it's not worth the trouble.
How about breaking the substrate up and mixing it with some potting soil. Maybe adding a bit of fertiliser and/or extra straw. And keeping it indoors. Maybe mist with some water and a bit of hydrogen peroxide? Has anyone tried this?

Never tried it as of yet but I would skip the fertilisers. Mycelium get their nutes from decomposing whatever they are growing on. Most fertilisers are made for plants so I doubt they will be beneficial. Same with h202. Only use it for some type of molds. If there arent any contams you will stunt the mycelium and that gives more time for contams to take a foothold while the mycelium is recovering. I think people use it on cobweb mostly and it still needs to be very small to work.
Nothing wrong with trying the compost/straw mix inside but why not just put it outside about a foot deep for some insulation and do a new batch of grains? That way if it doesn't fruit you will still have a new grow on the way

The cultivator is considering doing both. Half indoors, half outdoor. Said cultivator thanks you for your advice.
Would the straw and potting soil need to be pasteurised or not? Would breaking up the old substrate be a good thing or might it be better to leave it in one (well two actually) piece(s) and pack the straw/pottingsoil lightly around it?
New batch on WBR has been prepared a couple of days ago. The cultivator hasn't tried any other type of grains as of yet. Some birdseed is sitting around for that sometime in the future.

Yes pasteurisation is optimal. People dont reccomend sterilisation for those things. Just prepare them just like you would prepare a casing. About breaking your spent subatrate I would say yes so that you can mix it evenly.

Thanks!
The cultivator, for whom I'm relaying these notes, is working on a small extraction using 10g dried shrooms from the first flush. Just to get a feel for extracting. Would this be a good place to share the findings or is a new thread preferable?

The 3rd person shit irritates me. All the effort to just draw more attention to "the cultivator and his pictures" that you found. Look around buddy, it's insanely disrespectful to ask other people to assist in your friend, the cultivator's illegal activities when everyone, including the police now know it's you. Drop the act, man.

Yea personally I dont get why people talk that way but at least its not the swim shit lol.
Anyway back on subject. I think ull be better off posting that here :
https://www.shroomery.org/forums/postlist.php/Board/92
Its a section of the forum dedicated to extractions and w/e. Dont know shit about it though closest I ever came to extractions is a mushroom tea which ended up tasting like shit. I only eat my shrooms now haha. Gotta warn you though theres not much traffic in that part of the shroomery.

Strange people....
Could you call cultivation plagiarism? .... lol
Why would someone want to post someone else s work other than their own anyways?
To say the least the whole thing seems misleading.
