I vote AIC.
Share your thoughts.
--------------------
Ephesians 6:12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Psalm 12:6 The words of the Lord are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. Hebrews 11:3 Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear. Revelation 3:11 Behold, I come quickly: hold that fast which thou hast, that no man take thy crown.

Nirvana hands down. Some of the other grunge bands were also very good, but their music hasn't had the same staying power for me as Nirvana has. I did go through a pretty heavy Alice in Chains kick a few years back though. Soundgarden has always been kinda meh in my book. Same thing with the rest of the grunge era bands.

How am I only the second one saying Nirvana. Nirvana is like one of my favorite bands overall, of course they top the grunge genre. I hate grunge music, but I love nirvana. I don't like pearl jam, and i don't like alice in chains. Both those bands just have this lame slow depression to them that I hate. At least nirvana had some creative music. Those other bands were cookie cutter. Bunch of bullshit.

Smells like Nirvana to me.

or is the best like just the most popular to you? you haven't even listened to anything i've posted i suspect. otherwise you'd have an example.
if it's only Soundgarden, Alice in Chains, and Nirvana, and Pearl Jam, then...you don't know grunge worth a shit.
i'd say probably Grunge started before Nirvana and Mudhoney and Green River and the like...
probably started here with Big Star's record.

Mogwai's new album is awesome. they are awesome. one of the best post-rock bands. trippy as fuck. Young Team is one of the best albums ever.
and Slowdive too, is a classic shoegaze band, whom i ain't listened to for quite awhile, but they are awesome too.
Vincent Gallo i only know was the director of Buffalo 66', i didn't know he was a musician (made the music for B 66' too, huh...didn't know that), that's cool.

Alice in Chains and Nirvana apparently.
seeing as those are the only bands that ever get referenced to "Grunge music"!
GAH!

anti-establishment rock is a better name, but really it had no name but Rock, when it was kicking back in the day...then with Nirvana everyone started calling bands like them "grunge". it's sad. for everybody.

Smashing Pumpkins were not grunge. They had some pretty good stuff though.
I'm not saying Nirvana because they were the most popular. In fact, once they got popular pretty much everybody started hating them. And yes Akira, I can try to be edgy and name a bunch of obscure grunge bands, but when it comes down to it, when I hear Nirvana on the radio to this day, I fucking love hearing them.

yeah so do i.
Incesticide is one of my favorite albums.
seriously. by them, Nevermind is a close second. i actually own In Utero.
dude, it's not that i don't like the hell out of Nirvana.
i never said that.
PS: they aren't obscure either...at least they weren't when the bands weren't called "Grunge". they aren't obscure to Kurt Cobain...nor others.
think about it. ...pfft, try and be edgy...by posting bands that were popular and good BEFORE Nirvana, and that's somehow edgy...isn't liking Nirvana and ONLY Nirvana more edgy?

Bump Nirvana has been my favorite band since I first discovered music, which was with them. So to me, them. I love every song and every album, even Nevermind haha. From a "real grunge"/lyrical stand-point, Alice in Chains, (but I do not like grunge besides Nirvana, the pixies and Melvins, who I consider more sludgey) Kurt himself even said that he only wrote lyrics that were supposed to sound good, not make sense. I love the sound, but more than half of Nirvana's songs are almost no more than that. Sound without meaning

I don't like pearl jam, and i don't like alice in chains. Both those bands just have this lame slow depression to them that I hate. At least nirvana had some creative music. Those other bands were cookie cutter. Bunch of bullshit.
Alice in chains was a cookie cutter band? Layne is rolling over in his grave right now. They were much more original than any of the other grunge bands including nirvana.

They only seem cookie cutter because so many bands afterwards copied them to a tee

They were Gods...
Now they're frogs.
