mini monotubs -- how full exactly??

Okay so I plan to do a 12qt. mini monotub with rye and ccv substrate. I know this is a small tub and I am a bit confused as to exactly how full a monotub needs to be.  Many pics on monotubs here seem to be about 1/3 filled with spawn and substrate and then some people seem to fill their monos halfway up and even fuller.

From what I understand, I am aiming for a substrate depth of 3-4 inches. My tub is 6" tall. Will my monotub not work if I fill it 3"? Do I need a taller tub?

Yes, you're definitely going to need more than 3 inches of space above your sub. Get another one of those tubs and put it on top. Mini dub tub

am I going to need more space because of the height of the mushrooms or because I will have issues with the tub holding humidity or something like that? How much free space should a monotub have?

Common sense should help here, four inches of substrate in a container 12 inches tall= 1/3sub space, 2/3 air space. Dont overthink it man, just do it. Get a fist full of grows under your belt and it will be much more clear.

Hey I know this is way dead but this is a worthy bump, I dunno if I'm just slow (isually I'm not) but testiclease I swear for the question of tub size compared to sub/spawn ratio that's the best advice I've read all day and everyone should see it again because I can't find it anywhere.
