Does anyone think there is a legitimate reason to believe in feminism anymore or is it just a crock

I wanted to ask this question in rrv2 but I noticed most threads there are already disrespecting women so they probably wouldn't take the thread too seriously.
Seriously though, I understand the point of feminism that existed in the 60s because women wanted to be treated with equal respect. However, we live in a different era here in the next millennium. Does anyone still buy that noise? Like, what can't girls do? I see women go out to these feminism protest riots painting shit on their tits like "equal respect" and crap and it just seems like a girl now never feels like they are respected well enough they always think they need more attention. Well it's just bs if you ask me.
I think they need to get used to the respect we already give them. I think those attention whores make the women of the 60s who really pioneered feminism just look bad. That was a real issue back then. It's all just bs now. Anyone agree with me on this?

As a dude I can walk down my street without a shirt on and I would not get harassed, even though my man boobs are larger than some female breasts, I wouldn't be harassed because I am a man. No matter how flabby, grotesque and "offensive' my body is to passers by, I will not be harassed by the police. If I was a woman, I simply don't have this right.

Ok I'll give you that one. I did forget that is illegal and indecent. However, you cannot socially predict what would happen outside of the law. I personally could care less if a girl walked around shirtless
If I looked in appreciation then that girl very well can't be any more offended then I would be if she looked at me while I had my shirt off. Imho

It was nothing to do with being "offensive", it's about indecent exposure laws.
It's essentially about the protection of the woman, not a special right for men.

You could make the exact same statement about laws in a Muslim country regarding the burkas that females must wear.. If women in the USA who wear short shorts and low tops are more prone to sexual assault than women who wear Burkas then I suppose we need to make a law restricting women to wear burkas with head to toe coverings, after all its for their own safety...
I point this out only to reveal the glaring irony in your point, I hope your not overlooking the fact that the very basis of your point is indeed wrong. Female assaults are no more rampant in USA Municipalities that have abolished indecent exposure laws than in states that still have them in effect. In fact here in Colorado, women can walk around toppless, I saw a group of women at a park in Denver just the other week enjoying their day toppless.. To your amazement and surprise, they were not warding off violent sexual predators.
Again. Keep drinking the Kool -Aid if you wish

If you're trying to establish that a double standard exists in being topless in the legal system, you are correct.
But guess what, there's double standards when it comes to sexuality all the time, some are favorable to men, some to women.
Maybe I'll walk about the park tomorrow with my penis hanging out and wait for a sexual predator.

That's all I'm saying. I like challenging double standards. I just don't see what they are fighting for anymore. I feel like all the views they wanted to achieve they have achieved. I feel these days the standard of feminist rights is more something set for views that represent freedom of oppression for people in general. It just doesn't seem to me anymore to be something they claim is against "female rights" that makes any sense.
As voiced by anon2, both sexes aren't allowed to be nude to protect themselves from sexual predators. Actually I don't know where that thin line is drawn. Both a man and a woman can be arrested for lewd and indecent exposure if they are walking down the sidewalk nude

Feminism is just a philosophy that gets eventually taught to malcontent losers whom bleed in the philosophy they 'try' to learn about, into other areas, ie politics, and they shit all over everything in the process, mainly because of extreme Feminism that has been going on since the early civil rights movement, because of said idiot malcontents.
ever since this chick...
Valerie Solanas
 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Valerie_Solanas
you should read her SCUM manifesto...she was some kind of twisted nutjob. so anyone who should be a proponent to extreme Feminism would be emulating her, so you know, they've got to be some sort of dumb, or crazy, individual.
anyone who would want to know about REAL Feminism, without the curse of idiots bleeding the study of not even the study, the media, mere table-talk! into politics and into the news and into people's head's, by being wholly misinformed and/or dumb as fuck...should read the REAL literature.
The Feminine Mystique, Betty Friedan The Second Sex, Simone de Beauvoir Sexual Politics, Kate Millett
“There is a Chinese word for the female I — which is ‘slave’. Break the women with their own tongues!” - Maxine Hong Kingston
Feminism is not just 'a stand' anymore...it's not a political movement, either. it's simply the study, analysis, and upbringing of women in the 21st century whom need to literally fight for their rights or lose them outright. because that's how you maintain your rights, you fight for them...and the fighting is done by study, analysis and critique, and maybe protest, dissent, and politics, if it gets a little messy, which by all means it shouldn't, because no one should have to fight that hard, be in a revolution in this day and age. people who still do that shit are fighting against the purview of other idiots, because idiots tend to clash.
and there are idiots who think that "Feminism is a curse" and with that misinformation they create waves of dissent and 'political slandering' of their own, all whilst completely missing the point of Feminism on some low-brow female idiots whom they clash together with beautifully, you might say; seeing as they're a match made in heaven! but that's not what quote unquote "real" Feminism is about..."real" Feminism at one point was about protest...but now it's simply about philosophy. that's it. nothing more. no need to chop any balls off...no need to protest...just a need to keep up the study and analysis so that future generations don't lose their rights or the idea of Feminism. it's just like studying History...or Philosophy...or The Constitution.
it's all for the preservation and posterity of future generations. THAT'S IT.

That you will never know how fucking shitty it is to be a woman in society today. Some comments here state that women pretty much have it going on equal street, but that's laughable. The wage gap is still very real, women and children make up the highest demographic of people currently living in poverty, and women can't even walk down the street or take public transit without being subject to verbal harassment or sexual assault. There's billion dollar industries that thrive on telling women to adhere to physical standards (weight, body hair, how big your tits and/or ass is), and women are raped every day and then are made to look like the ones at fault.
Seriously. You all sound completely clueless and out of touch. (Except you anon #2. Keep fighting the good fight.)

"how fucking shitty it is to be a woman"
I never heard my GF's, females friends, female co-workers, sister, nieces, and mother ever complain about being a woman today, they love being female.
"The wage gap is very real"
So is the skill gap, businesses would only hire women because of the savings, they don't because there's plenty of reasons for it, different jobs!!
"women can't even walk down the street or take public transit without being subject to verbal harassment"
Total nonsense, it occasionally happens in shitholes, so does a lot of bad things.
"telling women to adhere to physical standards"
Yeah, because women wouldn't naturally be concerned with their physical appearance. It's called human nature, business just tries to profit from that female insecurity, it doesn't create it.
"women are raped everyday and then are made to look at the ones at fault"
Unfortunately, young women have been taught that drunk regrettable sex is rape and they end up falsely accusing men of a serious crime, law enforcement doesn't follow the insane rules of feminism.
You should ask for a refund on that man hating college education.

Riiiight, because legitimate rape doesn't even exist.
Oh, and FYI, feminism is not about a woman hating the fact that she is a woman. You are beyond help.. Are you 16 yrs old?
And to resonate what Anon #6 said, I wouldn't expect very many people on this website to sympathize with feminism issues.
Anon#3 is obviously broken in the same way that a lot of the males here are.. I'm sure you can imagine, most of the men that post here don't have much of a life, or much female interaction, many are terribly shy in real life and let their egos run wild under the veil of anonymity. Anon#3 is so harsh on the shroomery because he is so weak in person. The reality is, in real life, many of the dudes here are terrified to so much as have a conversation with a woman.
Don't believe me? Just read through the Sexuality forum. This website is full of insecure, socially awkward guys who In real life immediately fall in love with any woman whom so much as makes eye contact. Of course they run to the this little website asking each other, "what do I say" "How can I get her to like me".. And then to their amazement, when the woman wants nothing to do with them she is brushed off as a whore by shroomery peers.. This has played out time and time again in the Sexuality forum.. The reality is, this site is quite misogynistic in nature. You take a shy dude with a large internal ego, low self esteem and add female rejection to the equation, you get someone like Anon#3, bitter, and outspoken.. But just wait till his "GF" beaks up with him, he will be crying in the Sex forum, woman bashing, just as many before him have.. That is just the status quo on this site.

It's really unfortunate, because I enjoy hanging out on the shroomery, but the more I do so, the more I see how it's a lot of dudes who contribute to a lot of societies problems. But I feel anywhere on the internet it's impossible to convince people the gains yet to be made from feminism. Usually they have no concept of what feminism even is. Even more so, they have no concept of their privilege (because 9/10 times it's a white dude) that is running wildly unchecked.
What can you really do at that point?

why don't you fight for a proper cause like men getting harsher prison sentences then women for the same crime.

Why do girls make the decision to like pink and wear make up and skirts and enjoy feminine things? Because men make them? Or because they feel insecure that other women won't accept them if they don't adopt such a mental fashioning of their own personality?
See, both sexes are filled with insecurities created by judgement from their own sex discriminating them. You know the difference? If I get jumped into a gang or beaten by police or made to fire a gun in the military because I was bullied into these decisions I don't blame "people with vaginas and their discriminating attitudes that put me in this position."
I find a lot of women won't wake up and smell the coffee and accept the understanding that a lot of their problems with society is the behavior of other girls and that attitude is generally created by the perception of other girls. Since when do men decide that what makes a woman a woman is being "feminine?" In fact, the term that dictates a woman standing up for her rights as an individual is called "feminism." Guess who coined the term? Not a man.
If I went out and coined a term that verified my rights as a human male and called it "machochism" I sure as hell might not get much attention for it.
Anyway, to each their own I guess.

Is that the best you have, feminism is a failed concept, it served a purpose 50-70 years ago but it become too extreme in modern times, it causes more harm than good for women and that's why they can't relate to it.

At this point most of the legal changes that need to occur have occurred.
What needs to happen is social change, which cannot and should not be legislated, which is where some feminists have gone nuts.
The social change process is not just in men's court either. Many of these beauty standards are peer pressured and enforced much more by women than by men. Heels could disappear and be replaced by regular shoes and probably 90% of men wouldn't give a shit. Tight clothing, revealing clothing? That's a choice to show off a nice body (hopefully) and both men and women can make it.
Sure there's some male cultural shit like some catcalling, but really, I think it's quite rare amongst the middle class, with the exception of frat boys and high school jocks. The govt shouldn't just take a shit on freedom of speech because women can't handle it. How does it really get changed? Probably by women never fucking dudes that catcall them.
One of the main issues is that many women really don't seem to want to be respected and prefer to be somewhat dominated socially and sexually, asking men to keep two sets of books, pretend civility and raw sexual domination. Maybe that's some genetic shit, maybe that's just something women need to correct in their own culture.
Another is the continuous propagation of childhood cultures in schools. Some of the most intense gender biasing occurs from other children, and as new younger kids enter schools, they are subjected to the standards of the older children that came before. To really end the gender separation, kids need to be removed from this and treated androgynously, so that their sex has no connection to their identity. Still a hard ask, since they pick up so much from their parents behaviors, but it could at least start moving things in the right direction. Genetic behavioral dispositions should become more obvious as well.

Anonymous #6 said: That you will never know how fucking shitty it is to be a woman in society today.
Wow. Guess what? It's shitty to be a human in society today. You're arguments are so self defeating as to be laughable, and your attitude of separation simply perpetuates what you argue against.
Equal rights, between race/gender/sexual orientation will likely never be achieved. Human nature is the issue here. Humans are shitty towards each other. The laws have done what they could. Now it's over to people like you to start seeing us all as equals, and not carry on with self-perpetuating persecution complexes.
