Possible UK Liberty Caps? And some other nice mushrooms...
    #22353802 - 10/09/15 09:26 AM (8 years, 3 months ago)

Hi! This is my second year hunting now. Last year I didn't find anything, but this time I've been far more thorough with better knowledge. I found an ideal field and I just knew there had to be some Libs somewhere, and after finding like 20 different types of mushroom, I found these...

It's not much of course, but they are Libs, right?

Plus here's a few other nice mushrooms I found this week! I'm assuming they're non-active. I believe the blues are Stropharia cyanea.

Thanks:sun::syringe:

Nice finds.

The first do look like liberty caps, but the bruisng-brown seems off.

And, the two mushrooms below it. Very cool.

Thee bottom one looks like a parrot mushroom. Not edible but beautiful.

Nice liberty caps. :smile:

Yeah, the blue ones are either S. cyanea or S. pseudocyanea. I find these two species hard to distinguish
as the amount of blue is quite variable in both as they mature.

The middle one with the brown hygrophanous cap could be quite a few things, hard to tell without gill shot.
Psathyrella is not unlikely.

Thank you for the replies! I'm glad other people think they look like Libs too! It's a bit sad that those are the only ones I've found after like 15 hours of searching, but at least now I've found a spot where they can grow.

With my new found confidence in finding Liberty Caps, and some sleuthing on Google Maps looking for a better spot, I found the perfect North facing sheep-infested hill just a few fields over!

Managed to pick these in not very long at all...

Tidied up a bit...

Result!
