dark dark blue while drying

So i was fanning these for about 16 hours but I had to leave and didnt want to leave them where they were so i gently put them in a plastic bag and put them in a cool place.
When i came back maybe 8 hours later a few of them turned reeeally blue. The ones that turned blue were picked later so they were a wetter than the others.
they're back on the fan now and im going to put them with some desiccant tomorrow.

Are they ok?

plastic is the enemy for moist mushrooms. They will be fine, continue drying them. Lucky they were partially dry or they might have turned to goop in that plastic. If you have to, store damp mushrooms in paper bags.

They'll be fine, its not the best thing. You wont notice much potency loss at all.
By placing them in plastic, you allowed the inner moisture to come up and sit on the surface and cause bruising.
They probably would have been fine if you left them on the screens with the fan off.
Its really best to allow them to dry start to finish however you start it. Once you start accelerating drying you need to continue, since the outer part of the mushroom starts drying faster.
The worst thing you can do is place them fresh in the freezer, this will cause them to turn to black mush.

There is nothing wrong with bluing. Just finished drying and it will be fine. Just like drycrumbs said you MAY notice a slight loss in potency but probably not.

I've thrown a towel over my dehydrator before, and it worked fine. Maybe you just had a weak batch? It happens.

You people throwing towels over your dehydrators should be more concerned about burning your houses down than losing potancy. That's a pretty reckless move.

No shit. Covering the air intake makes mine overheat In seconds. It shuts itself down until the thermal reset resistor goes back

I never covered th air intake, just the top where the air came out of. I had a shitty one. I actually do need a new one because mine just stop working.

All my trays melted from a couple years of constant running but it's still getting the job done. Not bad for a $40 walmart special.
