Hmmm, I've never bought one new before(get mine at goodwill). I would think it should say the psi capacity of the cooker on the box. As for the amount pressure, it depends on the weight you use. Every weight I've ever used on a pressure cooker, said the psi on the underside of the weight. Flip it over and see if you see any numbers. If not, I'm not sure what to tell you. I'd go buy a new weight so I new for sure what psi I was cooking at.The Lizard,

Yeah where do you buy a new weight from, especially one that fits on the top? I found a pressure cooker at goodwill for $9.99 but no weight They also had a bin full of canning jars for .35 cents a peice but I didn't see any wide mouth ones.

It usually means that the pressure is automatically set at 15 psi, while will allow the temperature to be a ''constant'' 250 degrees. ''Constant,'' unless your heat on the stove is too high, which you don't want.------------------ ''Heightening your mental brain thingee.'' www.sporechicks.com
