 One of the rats I got to feed my snake was a quick, smart little fucker. She managed to survive in the cage for over 12 hours. When she wasn't at the bottom just flat out dodging the snake, she was climbing up the side on the bars and chilling up there. I decided to spare her because my wife thought she was cute and I felt she deserved it (most don't last a minute). She got to live out the rest of her life happily in a cage of her own (when it wasn't being held) Also got her a companion so she wouldn't be lonely.

Here's the lucky food, and said snake:

Hubby put a pic of the wrong rat LOL. The one with black markings was the "companion rat" and she was a total bitch. Named her Jill. She'd try to bite/attack every time I tried to pet her or anything.

Here's a pic of the sweet rat who avoided the snake:

Her name was Claire. Had her for about two years. Came home one day and she was completely fine. Hadn't been acting sick or anything. I went to pet her and tell her goodnight and found her dead in her cage. On my birthday. I had to make hubby take her out of the cage for me cause the evil rat kept trying to bite me. I put her in an old comcast router box, wrapped in a cloth. Hubby went outside in the dead of night, during the worst heatwave to dig in our hard dry assed yard to bury her for me.
2009-2011
RIP Claire

oh and the evil rat ended up dying in a weird way. after claire passed away, i told hubby to just let the snake have jill, cuz she was mean anyhow. it was time for the snake to have food anyways. he puts her in the snakes cage, and the snake ate her.

but that's not the end of it. LOL.

i hear a lot of gloopy, horking sounds. then i smell something that smells like 1000 rotting corpses in the sun. i grab a flashlight (we had been asleep and hubby was still sleeping at this point) and shine it in the snakes cage after i heard movement.

apparently the snake had horked back up the evil rat. partially digested and what not. hubby gets up, turns on the light, and grabs a paper towel to retrieve the dead rat. as he goes to pick it up to dispose of it....the FUCKING HEAD fell off, and oooooooooooooooooomfg the smell got 1000x worse. he started gagging and retching, and i ran out of the room giggling like a dumbass. if i hear/see/smell puke i'mma lose it, but that shit was funny. at least to me

Kind Cobra's aren't so dangerous cause they're not at all aggressive.
I used to keep a copperhead, had to give it and my python away when I got pretty sick this past summer.

For me, keeping hots is more fun than regular snakes.

It was horrible :sadyes:

Had never seen a snake puke it's food back up before. Had already been digesting for a few days.

The rat must have had such a nasty demeanour that it seeped into its very flesh

I'm just glad the snake wasn't harmed.
There are WAY TOO MANY stories that end up with some fuckface killing an animal that scared them.
Me though, I would've kept the snake for a ransom.

Do you mean snakes in general, or "hots" (venomous snakes).

I've had a couple pythons and they actually make great pets.

I'll probably get a Ball Python for my daughter when she's old enough to care for it, assuming she wants one.

Well, I was referring specifically to venomous snakes in this instance, although I don't really care much for any snake, but that's just me.

Roger that. They're not for everyone.

My 1st little python helped a lot of people I know get over their fear of snakes. They'd come visit and gradually get more comfortable with her and then would finally hold it. Then would actually request to hold it during their next visits.

I fed my daughters ball python a few months ago and after the snake killed the rat it was trying to eat it sideways. She got frustrated and slithered away. I went to pick it up to dangle it and give her another chance to attack it the right way.

She saw me going to pick up the food and tagged my hand. Learned my lesson that day

DON'T TOUCH MY FUCKIN FOOD BITCH!

You don't want to go near most snake when it's feeding, and for some time after.

I'd be all over that call if I was working critter control..  I can only imagine the things those guys run across over the course of a few years of work there in Florida..

That said, if it were my dryer I would be pretty pissed.  What if I had a kid or something?  It's one thing to sign up and voluntarily take the risk, it's another to be placed in that situation without your prior consent.. that could have gotten pretty bad.

O man, I read about when that thing first got loose a couple weeks ago(unless it's some other jerkoff's pet king cobra) and was wondering what would come of it.

Yeah Florida's have giant invasive pythons, but king cobra's are a whole new league - glad no one ended up hurt. I would be grumpy as fuck if I worked in animal control and got that phone call.

I almost think the guy should be charged with something. Not just ticketed. Even if the escape was a complete accident...I mean that's a uber deadly ass fucking reptile. I really don't think anybody outside of zoos and shit should have cobras. Certainly not some "licensed" TV personality (who the fuck is that dude anyway?).

Yeah I definitely think there should have been criminal charges in this case. His failure to keep it contained put lives at risk.

If I recall, licensing to own dangerous reptiles is actually pretty legit, like you have to have a significant amount of hours logged handling dangerous/venomous animals and have it signed off by some other licensed sponsers or something.

I'm not sure though, I could never keep anything that required food I might potentially befriend. I do agree that dude should be fined out the ass though, it's unfortunate and it was accidental, but there still needs to be some accountability.

I think most of these people who keep dangerous animals are a little "off." No offense to pillar.

Quote:

ZANESVILLE, Ohio — Sheriff’s deputies shot nearly 50 wild animals — including 18 rare Bengal tigers and 17 lions — in a big-game hunt across the state’s countryside Wednesday after the owner of an exotic-animal park threw their cages open and committed suicide in what may have been one last act of spite against his neighbors and police.
As homeowners nervously hid indoors, officers armed with high-powered rifles and shoot-to-kill orders fanned out through fields and woods to hunt down 56 animals that had been turned loose from the Muskingum County Animal Farm by owner Terry Thompson before he shot himself to death Tuesday.
