That's like saying we all live in sin because of the sins of adam and eve, bunch of bullshit if you ask me. You're right, I haven't done anything to stop it, nor have I done anything to cause it, I was born into this clusterfuck.

You and every other citizen is equally responsible for everything our country does. We have done NOTHING to stop it. All the average citizen does it bitch and moan. And then when the troops return they shift the blame onto them instead of the realizing they are just as guilty as the troops and the elite.

That's not the same thing, because I'm not in the same room as those people who are causing it now. And even if I was, sure they're stronger than me, then I try and do something and they kick my ass and do it anyway, only difference is now instead of her just getting raped, I got my ass beat and she got raped, there was no difference except for a worse outcome, and since it still happened would I still be just as guilty even if I attempted?.
I agree that if everyone stood together we can change it, I think it's unbelievably naive to think that will ever happen I do what's in my control to make change, just like I would in that rape scenario, but apparently I'm guilty either way and my efforts are futile no matter how long I keep trying.

Yes the majority of citizens... Everything happens because majority rules. If you think the majority blames the soldiers, then that's what you believe. Majority of soldiers blame the government, and they get mad at the civilians. I listen to it constantly. It's a never ending cycle of 'which side are you on' instead of a unification of our nation.

Except it. You're just as guilty. No one likes to look at it that way, but it's the truth. If everyone in America stood up against the shit that our nation and the elite are doing it would stop. But the majority of us are to lazy, selfish, and fearful to do anything but bitch and moan and blame someone else for everything.
Last week a female soldier got raped from a bunch of male soldiers.... They left her in a field with her pants down.

I've been thinking of joining with my degree because I'd advance to OTC right away. My family kind of has a lot of service in the male section. Brother was in Marine Core for a long time. Grandfather was a marine. My other grandpa was a Korean War Medic and hero. My cousins a green beret.
If my Plan A and B don't pan out by the end of 2016 then I might join. They also help squash a lot of your school debt.

You are in the same 'room'. It's called a country. You are a citizen of that country. You are responsible for what that country does, just like everyone else. The reason why this country is so fucked isn't because of the elite or the government, it's because the average citizen is unable to admit their responsibility for their nation and would rather stand by and let someone else do something about it if it means they can continue to lay back and have a good time.
We're all people. Humans started out in tribes of only a few dozen. It was the responsibility of the tribe's members to keep their leaders in check. Nothing has changed in that respect; we just have more people; and the majority of them are sheep who blame their leaders for everything that is wrong with their nation.
You cannot be serious right now

ya, and people who commit rape in the Army get it covered up and don't face any trial but the VICTIMS get potentially court martial'd because of behind the scenes scheming - or just ignored, if they don't fight it too hard.
go on Netflix and watch this https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Invisible_War
educate yourself further.

Well that's why I'm saying that ALL of us are equally responsible for the state of our respective nations. That includes the politicians, the troops, and the civilians.

You're proclaiming that you're going to do something by joining the military. That by doing so you're going to change our nation. I'm stating the obvious fact that it's the same in there as it is in civilian life. Also news flash... the military doesn't smile upon whistle blowers.
I hope for a change... but I'm not naive enough to know it probably won't happen soon. Just look at this thread.... it's divided as hell. We're just running around with one same outlook hoping for change but we're all saying it differently.
Seriously, good luck with the marines. You'll bond with alot of guys probably. I'll probably even see you on your way through. Just don't get your heart broken when you find out that you're just like everyone else in the end.
This is getting real off topic....

Almost 90% of the people I knew who joined the military joined because of the benefits and that the government pays for your college. Not because they have immense pride and love for their country or want to protect strangers. This isn't TV or a movie LOL. Also most of the people I knew that joined the military did because they were tired of working shit jobs and getting nowhere in life. More than half of them never even saw combat... And what's up with people saying people in the military are "murderers"..? Stupid ****ing liberals and dumb hippies.
EDIT: GOD DAMN TYPOS!

I never proclaimed that I was joining the military in order to change our nation lol. Go back and read what I said.
You are jumping to a lot of conclusions bro. All I said is that the civilians are just as responsible for the wars the troops fight as the government and the elite are and the troops themselves are.
I think a lot of you guys just have preconceived notions about people in the military or people who are joining the military and thus everything I said just was filtered and converted into something else in your mind.
You're right... I'll retract that statement that you're doing it for honorable change.
Like I said before... everyone in this discussion seems to be aware that EVERYONE is responsible.
I have no preconceived notions if my whole life I've been surrounded by military. I've just never personally joined.

It's not fun to think that you are just as responsible as everyone else. But you are. And so am I. And so is everyone else.
Dude, you haven't even fucking joined yet and you're already defending something you know nothing about. On second thought, please go join the military. You obviously don't have the critical thinking skills to do anything else worthwhile with your life. So whats your solution if we're all "responsible for everything the country does?" You want everyone to just drop what they're fucking doing and join the military because you think its the only way to make a difference? Be a doctor, be a goddamn scientist, don't join the fucking military.
Funny you reference slavery when you're signing up for a profession that tells you to jump and you ask how high? You basically sign over your life and they can basically do whatever they want with you until you decide you've had enough. Stop telling everyone to take responsibility when you're the one that needs to take responsibility for making your own shitty decisions.

more along the lines of warrior culture in the military isn't a thing, and the military don't have any warrior's; they've technical specialists, leaders, and grunts.
all of them prone to un-warrior-like acts.
but more to the point here, i guess, i gotta say, people are not responsible to go and fight other people's wars...people getting thrown somewhere they don't belong and don't need to be, to do some shit that sucks the life out of you, they tend to denigrate into people whom you might see in another walk of life, only these people whom you see are considered great (by you) and more important than your average "citizen". they aren't. they could be even worse, but they're certainly not "better than", just because they're in a shitty place; even if they want to be there.
most people just want to live a normal life, not live "warrior culture". warrior this-and-that is done out of necessity, out of feeling a shifting placelessness in the world...NOT because they want to "serve their country"...not unless you're either brainwashed, or have some degree of intelligence and merit to realize you're doing it for your countrymen and in a time of crisis, and not just for you or your government's interest.
so you saying you wanna go and fight makes no sense if you don't trust your government. you either trust what they're doing, or you don't/shouldn't want to go. basically.

Well true that. It's a big topic in the military, all hush hush but not. I have to go through soooo much training each year on the topic.... Sooo much. Plus knowing personal accounts with people I know...
