Easiest way to grow Cordyceps for personal health issues

Recently I was able to try a health product that contained powdered Cordyceps Sinensis. If you care the product is called ShroomTech and they state on the page that they get their material from Aloha.
Basically I just want to grow it myself on grains or in a LC. No need to fruit. Would I be best with CS-4? Militaris? Something else?
I wouldn't mind shelling out $350 for Aloha's CS-4 culture if that was going to give me the best shot at success.

LC won't really give you a lot of material. A QT of LC only gave me 2 and a half skoobies each with CS4 and 2 different militaris cultures. They dried out to very small amounts once harvested. You would be better off inoculating a bag of rice and letting it super colonize and digest as much of the rice as possible. Then grind it all up and put it in gelcaps.

I wouldn't waste money with Aloha.
People say their CS-4 smells like ammonia so I wouldn't want to eat anything like this.
You can get militaris culture from ebay. Outgrow sells cultures too.
Colonized grains are not very potent as far as I know.
But all in all, you probably won't be able to produce enough medicinal compounds at home, so if you want to consume cordyceps, buy it.. Try to find good and cheap source, many people have overpriced products.

Surely it's gotta be cheaper to grow it yourself rather than pay some supplement company? I have a fair amount of space I can use for this project.
This paper seems to suggest that Militaris has more actives and is easier to cultivate.

I've found it works wonders for my asthma and general energy levels.

You can grow it easily but it won't be very efficient and you will have to put time and effort into it.
One of the studies show Militaris culture on grains mix produce up to 10 mg/g of cordycepin - that was strain dependent, some strains produced less than 2mg/g. Go calculate if this is even worth making, I'm not sure how much cordycepin you need.
