An average meal at a run of the mill restaurant in Australia is $17. Here in the states, the average is $11. A pack of cigarettes in Australia? $18. Here in the states, $6.72. Average apartment in Australia? $1,780 per month. In the states, $1,100.

So yeah, his amazing $23 an hour job will get him an average meal and a pack of fucking gum afterward.
Yeah OP, you're knee deep in cash flow, aren't you
And congratulations on getting hired in the incredibly difficult and enriching field of flipping burgers and asking customers if they want any extra ketchup -- you sir, have officially made it.

If you do currency conversions then the cost difference is really minimal when you consider that Australia is somewhere that most people would want to live.
Basically, comparing $11 to $12.30 is nearly meaningless. When you consider minimum wage in your country, the minimum wage in Australia is more agreeable to the cost of living.

Thanks for all the support guys
Yes cost of living is higher, but its impossible to really compare. aussie cigs are one of the most taxed in the world. I would still say a single person could live comfortably on minimum wage which is ~$17.

We do, but it's heavily restricted. Although, we had a shooting the other day. Some 15 year old kid shot one or two people I think, for Allah.

Watch out, the stingy americans who think anyone not contributing how they percieve is in a 'non-looser' way will tell you what a looser job you have because this site is full of self-rightious people who can;t stand happiness in others it's nice you are secure in your job

see the things is that shooting was national news and one of the biggest stories of the week. In america a single shooting wouldnt even make local news.

Congrats on getting a job.
I'm unemployed and really having trouble getting motivated to apply for work.
I'm on unemployment right and have some benefits till the end of the year. $1800 a month in California, pretty decent. I'm scrambling to find a job before december though since no one really hires during late december/ January due to the holidays.
Time to smoke crack and inject meth into my dick to get motivated to get a job.

Every job ive ever got is just pure luck. Same goes with most people I know. Getting a job isnt about skill. Aslong as you can answer interview questions and have the basic requirements. You just have to be in the right place at the right time and hope the interviewer picks you.
